I also read a brief post on twitter regarding an issue however i can't find it or it was deleted.
Hi. It came out of share discussions with friend and colleague so have no reason to doubt it. However as mentioned it has not been rns'd so until then nobody knows for sure but having experience with issues in the past the company will try and get the issue fixed if possible prior to releasing it, usually only released if major impact. We both have substantial knowledge in the sector.
Dextet. Was this rumour substantiated. Also do you work in the o and g industry. As Newkotb intimated this should be rns if true. My view is that r3 was a non starter from day one. It explains why bp dumped their cr...p and moved on from bringing the well online.it also explains as to why the share price is where it is now. The big issue now is how much money has this folley cost .
Out of interest, where did you hear the rumour from Dexter?
Newkotb. Are you saying that it has definitely closed down.
We don't have sufficient information as to the issue ( if there is one) to determine course of action.
SQZ will need to issue an RNS if its not a 'simple' fix.
Just highlights the need to diversify our production base.... something that is way, way overdue.
aimo
Thats all we need. If it is how long will it be shut down
Anyone heard about potential issues with R2?
Rumours say it is currently shut in and due to failed subsea valve in completion
Thanks Almsivi, appreciated!
A completion assembly is the terminus of a well basically, the point in the reservoir where fluids physically enter the wellbore and make their way to the surface/topsides. Completions can vary widely in their utility, some have liners or sleeves that can be adjusted to increase or restrict fluid ingress or even change the area within the payzone that the fluids are collected at. Completions for oil at least usually provide utility for "gas lift" where natural gas (usually) is injected into the reservoir at the pay-zone - this has the effect of reducing the density of the fluids at the payzone and allowing them to flow more easily. For gas reservoirs like Rhum, they don't need to worry about that - but my point is to highlight that the common element to a completion is its job of collecting well fluids and exerting a very narrow degree of control over it.
Muckle.
In an odd way maybe this could be a niche avenue that Serica could persue. If you think about it how many orher wells in the north sea have been abandoned with junk left in them.
Muckle. Maybe Serica could now end up the shinning light in all of this.At least we have no interests in dubious countries .
Changed day's upomega, do you remember when shell were going to cut the legs off the Brent spar and dump it in the North Sea until greenpeace moved in?
Leaving an old plug in a hole in the sea bed doesn't even come near that lol.
Just one point flezmw. How the Gad damme h..ll was B.P allowed to leave their cr..p in such a way. That is coming from an ousider not ever being involved with o and gas industry. No wonder environmentalists are having a field day these days.
As R3 is being discussed, a couple of questions to the more knowledgeable, I’m always keen to learn!
From the recent update :
The problems encountered by the previous operator in 2005 were that a hydrate plug had formed in the well and wireline debris had also been left in the well. Serica has successfully remedied both issues, recovering the wireline 'fish' and dissociating the hydrate plug by heating
· The ongoing operations are to remove the 2005 downhole completion before recompleting the well.
So the hydrate plug & wireline debris had already been removed, ongoing ops are/were to remove the 2005 downhole completion. What is the downhole completion, what does it comprise of etc etc? More info the better, thanks!
A question to Almsivi, you recently tweeted regards the application for permission to increase production from the Bruce facility - possibly regards R3, any experience in how long this takes for approval & is this a possible time issue before R3 comes online?
Thanks in advance..
R3 contains 60% of the total Rhum gas reservoir so, assuming success in bringing it online, its boost to production should be considerable and, I guess, that Serica's been stepping up their gas hedging commitments with much higher prices now than last year - sasa.
