It strikes me NEX needs SGC efficiencies more that SGC needs NEX. Can't see this going through at these terms without some moves yet.
I said a while back on this board that this company would be taken out if it kept on falling, which is why I topped up at 69p - long term hold for me if this goes through as the cost savings of a combined company will force the share price up in the long term, based on future cost savings combined with reduced risk and competition, and an increase in profits
gla and dyor etc
the most recent director sell was in April and about 94p
i find it very odd that the board would accept 80p now
My average is 85p so not great at 80p offer
Is it better to hold the shares for the long term or sell ?
I guess the only alternative is to hold the NEX shares.
Really low ball and reading between the lines looks like owners are looking to step back, just to think only a few years ago SGC were mulling a bid for Arriva Bus ops after loss of the rail franchises. i would of wanted 90-95p based on pre pandemic. EPS was 13.5 pps last year
That is a terribly low price.
It means that a lot of people who bought in over the past few months will get considerably less than what they paid. i.e. they'll sell at a loss. I'd be marginally in profit, but it's not exactly great.
Poor deal.
Does 18% above current price mean they’ve valued stagecoach at 80p?? Isn't that really low?
Nooo, I get paid today and was planning to top up. I can't believe I've missed the rebound by literally one day after it has been falling for several months. -_-
Makes sense in these difficult times.
18% premium on both share prices.I own both so interesting how the prices pan out today
Should this send shares up or down
Just seen something on Bloomberg tv channel saying potential t/o offer looming for Stagecoach.
Anyone know any more info about this?
I was amazed to find that there is going to be a clean air charge introduced in London on the 25.10.21 of 15 pounds a day. The size of the area is much bigger than many have noticed. The tubes and buses will be packed with new customers...
Good post Moonman, I have come round and agree now that the driver shortage is clearly not short term and Covid infection/isolation related altho at the time I posted that I stand by it was a massive factor.
The bus industry in the UK is now in a precarious place and right now that is reflected in the SPs of the big players. However good Public Transport is just as essential for a strong economy as it is the battle against congestion and the climate emergency. All Governments know that and are backing it massively not just with the current support schemes but also with green bus and infrastructure funding and we also have a great young person concession scheme coming next year which will nurture and build bus patronage for the future.
The drivers pay and work life balance has to be addressed urgently tho as the industry cant let good customers down and force them into alternatives.
I continue to have faith and see a bright future and a significant upside here, NEX & GOG so increasing my investment steadily in all three at ATM. GLA
Everyone is struggling to recruit... however it’s time these companies got themselves into the 21st century. They need to redress the balance of work / homelife the entails a hell of a lot of responsibility and generally the buck stops with the drivers. The work responsibility to pay ratio is appalling, not forgetting abusive passengers and then you have abusive fellow drivers..... And what makes matters even worse is abusive managers..... I came out of early retirement to do bus driving.... I never needed the job being an ex London plumber...but always wanted the chance to give it ago driving a bus...when I did my lessons the youngest in my group was 18.... the oldest (me) was 54......that was two years ago.....we’ve now all left... nothing to do with the dismal wages... but the bullying culture administered by the management...which isn’t acceptable...What they seem to forget is that without government funding they are nothing.... and without drivers there is no business to fund......
It seems a lot of the drivers have been on furlough. Psv drivers are in general older and have found life more rewarding not driving. Hence they have all decided to call it a day. Our local bus companies have told my partner they are struggling to recruit..
Bought some more this morning at 67p thought I was getting a bargain lol should have waited a bit longer, oh well.
@shareitwivme Folk are pooing their pants over the latest government rumblings
What's with the big drop today?
It has certainly done a hefty correction, 30% down in 6 months, hopefully the trend will change
Can not understand these markets, this is going the same way as before vaccines .Maybe the decline as Boris has said possible working from home and at last resort lockdown, I don't believe that will happen. Anyway this is a long time hold for me now as 20% down
Getting hammered down today
