Today's trading update RNS: A good company with a good set of modern hi-tech divisions and quick acting management to current changing situations.- sp should be higher imo.

In the controls part of the business there appears to be a lack of orders in the nuclear. I understand they lost there nuclear sales director to a competitor.
I actually come from Eckington, but currently live in Germany working in the technology area. For as long as I can remember going back many tens of years Servelec Eckington division has been in the town, so it cannot be that bad a company! best regards,
Servelec group were part of CSE Singapore until December before the IPO. I am a director of Servelec Controls who are part of Servelec Group UK. CSE bought my company SIA in 2010, SIA made PAT of around 2m in 2010 and since we have been Servelec controls turnover has increased to 17m and PAT last year was 3.4m, since 2010 Servelec controls has made good profits therefore M Smith is making comments that do not reflect the company . M Smith appears to know more about the Healthcare side of the business and obviously knows employees which leads me to conclude a biased opinion, maybe an ex employee. But as far as the comment that other businesses are losing money or making very little money is simply not the case, any division that turns over 17m and make 3.4m PAT is not a red herring.
Anyone invested here??
I am not trying to scare anyone off regarding the company.. I am simply saying they have one massive work horse.. aka rio... and that has recently been delivered. There is no new rio planned and only the smaller oceano is still taking off. I am saying .. HOLD.. dont buy.. dont sell.. Forget the prospectus.. speak to people you will find out more and it will not be a one sided piece of PR from the company.
..at least as a starting point - for an idea about how the different divisions contribute to turnover / profit see part 11 (p.70) - this information is based on the audited accounts! As per the latest RNS: "Preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2013 will be announced on 12 March 2014" and so some validation of the prospectus should be possible. As for MSmith's comments about legacy code, presumably all real-world systems, actually in use, have it. Difficult to see how they've made a profit if there were that much of a maintenance headache! Still, one to watch IMO etc. BTW you can find the prospectus at http://www.servelec-group.com/Investors/Servelec%20Group%20plc%20Prospectus.pdf
I believe that Servlec healthcare was the only part of the uk company making money... HOWEVER, that was under BT who only subscribed to the latest version of RiO (7), there is NOT a new version scheduled or planned only "features" which can be added on.... and this is NOT going to be via BT. (Do some research into the spine to know why BT are important). If you do some research and speak to some of the former staff who worked there you will find it quite informative. I have been informed that RiO is written with a lot of "legacy" code.. lots of ASP.. VB script... anyway there is a LOT of info out there. Oceano is a new product which is custom built for each customer! naturally this comes with it's own costs and maintenance headaches... as to how well this will take off.. I can not imagine.. but it is going to be the only revenue stream the company really has in the healthcare division... Regarding the other parts of the company... from what I can tell they are really loss makers.. not big losses but losses non the less. I would still want to see what happens in a year or two and how many sales they make before I made up my mind. Mike
Good day Mr. Smith, Servelec (SERV) looks good to me. I like being on the same side as George Soros, whose business name is Quantum. As you posted at 16:59, SERV is wholly distinct from Servocell. Like you, I am trying to make sure that other potential investors are clear on this point. Rob229
Don't invest... that is all I will say. They lost the BT contract for London and the south as they felt the product / management was not worthy hence why they came to the market probably to secure funding in the future... Wait until they prove themselves over a few years then consider it.

GedW 22 May '07 "I have also seen various projections and calculated my own based on historical data as available." dasv 22May: "My point is SERV is a small enterprise with relatively low volumes of sales. Only some of SERV's sales will include technology from RGG. How much we don't know. But I think we can be fairly certain the deal doesn't mean £10m extra for RCG's coffers in 2008 judging by the size of SERV as an enterprise. Can you post your projections and the historical data you based them on?" Care to grace us with those projections GedW?
