you will find your answer there ... they have 2 preclincal vaxs already of course they must do there due diligence before committing funds for scancell that ImmunoBody has been through a trial must be a plus...of course that is fi we are in negotiations with them and my feeling is we are and they started about the time TGs CEPI Twitter storm ended which was pre their $200 million call... so it could well be like VBI ph1/2 initiated and CEPI funding news all at once....... though like others have said its no guarantee and till we know we don't certainly their $200 mill call ends the end of this month but I don't think that means that's when they decide they can do that any time they like before and after.... I'd like to think if it is the route chosen scancell are in with a good shout.
I think you would want to know that its running right before you part with your cash but CEPI have a mandate to get these new technologies over the line and try to stop any potential future pandemics.
To be honest I would have thought Lindy would be able to show excellent lab data, my question was to ask 'if' CEPI will get involved before a dose has been given to a person. Because I don't know if they would.
They back vaxs at all stages so I see no hurdle there plus we do have ImmunoBody data and CEPI have form in backing DNA vaxs... novel certainly does not put them off ... in a world of mRNA success I see no problem there...other pluses have to be the whole Notts Uni team and facilities having COBRA secured with good relations and being UK based which is one of the most vax supporting and CEPI supporting nations ... so a lot of ticked boxes I'd say.... but of course no guarantees ... I'm not sure of the competition to be honest not looked into that but out of $200 million to give I'm sure scancell could do much with a slice of it plus the follow on support that would be given with vax progress on success....
It's my more ideal scenario to go the CEPI backed route ... I wonder with this week and the huge revenues announced by first gen winners and then the Biden IP scare... would a pharma partner be more attracted (size of the prize) or less to get involved
Chester, you could be right still modi1 trial news expected H1 and also the coming online of extra SCIB1 combo clinics and hopefully, soon a patient dosed.... With Covidity -soon as possible- so who knows!... Krafty goes with the potential of an announcement on May 31st... ending of the CEPI call for next-gen broader protecting CV19 vaxs...possible but we should not hang a date onto that either we would have more an idea there once they do announce which projects they have chosen to fund... going off RG's decision to go from posting loads of CEPI to nothing I would think we have applied... but who knows!... we are surely closer to newsflow than we were last week though :)
From the statements put out by RNS and from the presentations by Cliff Holloway my initial take was that news would arrive by mid May. To start the Covidity trials "early H2" by which I assume they mean July / August, the application to attain approval must be submitted at least 6 or 8 weeks in advance.
The 400k Vulpes buy has made me question my assumption and I'm now not anticipating any news on Covidity until early June.
TF, labour was set up to fight the injustices caused by victorian industrialists exploiting the working people of this country and similar injustices exist today but labour have not set out a plan to deal with them. The biggest injustice today is wealth inequality caused in a large part by large companies [mostly american] exploiting workers on zero hours contracts, sucking wealth from the economy and stockpiling the cash. At the same time we have allowed salaries at the top of all organisations, including the public sector to increase to obscene levels and our political parties and the media obsess with topics that do nothing to address the problems of the working people . So until labour address the real problems of the working people they will not garner their support imv. Meanwhile back at sclp, any ideas on when we might get news of a trial kick off?
"Sir Keir Starmer was accused on Friday night of allowing Labour to be captured by a "London-based bourgeoisie" and "brigades of woke social media warriors" by a frontbencher who quit in the wake of the "shattering" Hartlepool by-election defeat. Khalid Mahmood resigned as shadow defence minister and warned that Labour's "obsession" with identity politics meant the party had more in common with "Californian high society" than Hartlepool voters.
He said it needed to practise "engagement on a local level" which he declared he would now do from the backbenches. The scathing attack came as Sir Keir, the Labour leader, admitted the party has "lost its connection" with voters and took responsibility for its "bitterly disappointing" performance in Thursday's polls. He pledged to set out plans to rejuvenate his leadership within days, and is said by allies to be plotting a major reshuffle that will see New Labour "heavy hitters" Yvette Cooper and Hilary Benn – both of whom have experience of serving in government – brought into the shadow cabinet. A senior Labour figure said: "I think it would be quite powerful Yvette coming back. Both of them would add weight where it’s much needed. We win when we're bold, have a positive vision and there are hard hitters on the front bench. There are gaps. Sir Keir assembled his "sofa cabinet" of most trusted aides for a crisis meeting shortly after 1pm." https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/05/07/labour-frontbencher-quits-broadside-sir-keir-starmer-hartlepool/
Strange times indeed ... I was in shock yesterday .. Hartlepool went conservative!!! Never thought I’d see that day !
And the thought of patent waivers I’m sure sends shivers down the pharma worlds very existence !
That indeed would be a way to use a sticking plaster for the current Covid situation, but what of the future when all innovation and invention would have little reward !? I’m not sure that many pharma and biotech would take very expensive and considerable risks for a pat on the back ... well done you!
