Many good posts guys#, hard to find one that has no merit, and AB totally agree with a couple of posts you have put up today.
Makes me hope that when news comes, our cancer platforms bring good news re getting back into trial, as AB says thre are many who might not understand the importance of them to us.
Have a good weekend all, crumbs, watching Round 1 at 5.30??

Couldn't agree more with your article posted, but I really don't think that there was ever an (immediate) threat to IP re anything other than Covid (ignoring the fact that there will be overlaps with other areas from which Covid therapies might be derived). Even if the IP Waiver were to be taken up. Obviously Scancell would have initially been cushioned to some degree from that situation (or not been as severely affected) should all investors have understood Covid Vax are effectively secondary to the main platforms under development. I'm not sure all investors will (or want to) understand that.
Interesting point that we have yet to understand is whether Scancell woulod make Covidity and the next generation Vax available "At Cost".

I still believe that there will be some attempts for Governments to link with Pharma in maybe funding research for Covid type problems in the future where maybe there will be some cost sharing (much as that which has happened already).. Maybe Tax breaks for shaing specific IP might be considered. That would be particularly helpful in the Nations' "Altruistic" race to "save the World" which in itself might not be quite as straightforward as it at first appears!
But that's politics for you!

No I don't see it going through but it had a negative effect... luckily scancell are just about a stage ahead of those who would really be affected by this IP threat meaning bio startups.-hey we have a great patented idea invest in us! ..... Investors at the very least need to be confident of IP protection..... Anyways no it won't happen it's just it getting POTUS support and making headlines causes ripples that even seem to have negatively tested little ol scancells sp at least temporarily but no main thing here is getting everything into trials which we all hope to hear news and of the positive kind soon as the failure to deliver there is what would really impact negatively here... We have enough risk/reward weighing up to do without Biden throwing his misplaced oar in lol

Cancer breakthroughs such as the above would not be realized without patent protection!

Do you believe that the "Patent Waiver" will go through as it's currently suggested?
I don't. Why? Because it allows the US to appear to be assisting the Global Pandemic BUT when putting forward an "alternative answer" to the conumdrum he can appease the Pharma supporters by being "Creative" and thinking outside the box thus bolstering the altruism of the US whilst maintaining support for an important area of the Economy. Not only that but if advanced successfully ( a big IF) it could allow enhanced Global influencing as a magnanimous policy towards supplying poorer countries with a supply of at cost or FOC humanitarian "aid".
This is one very big issue with much to play for on the Global influence stage. And the good bit? Played carefully it could be a great way for the US (and allied influencers) to advance interests in areas which are being infiltrated by powers with aspirations which may not fit with all.

And this is absolutely it....
'The recent rhetoric will not discourage us from continuing investing in science. But I am not sure if the same is true for the thousands of small biotech innovators that are totally dependent on accessing capital from investors who invest only on the premise that their intellectual property will be protected'
Biden has hurt the scancells of the world not the big pharmas... yet no innovative biotechs backed by investors will to take the risk/rewad.... no innovations!
Luckily this patent waiver is going nowhere but it puts us back to going nowhere too lol Come on scancell lets be having the trials and if not let a little Indian Factory that gets huge charity funding take them on so we can all at least have some trial to be excited about :) before all UK is vaccinated and our trial cohort will be newborns... though I notice there have even been trials in that cohort already!
Sends out a letter.....
'And I would like to make a final point. I worry that waiving of patent protection will disincentivize anyone else from taking a big risk. We deployed $2 billion before we knew whether we could successfully develop a vaccine because we understood what was at stake. Just recently, I authorized spending an additional $600 million on COVID-19 research and development that will bring our total spend for R&D in 2021 to more than $10 billion . The recent rhetoric will not discourage us from continuing investing in science. But I am not sure if the same is true for the thousands of small biotech innovators that are totally dependent on accessing capital from investors who invest only on the premise that their intellectual property will be protected.'
