I agree but at least football is an outdoor event. Anyway we agree the UK gov should tighten things more especially pubs clubs and restaurants. I do know that people gathering at airport check ins and queuing at passport and boarding gates is just plain crazy - indoors closely packed, etc. The flight itself is less worrying as the planes have filters and air flow. Shopping centres in UK are dead at what is normally a very busy time of year. I see Portugal are closing all bars and clubs from 2nd to 9th January. Good idea. Personally, I definitely wont be flying anywhere until April at least.
Doug. Rubbish. A mask is required to go on the bus and in shops and yet 76000 were allowed to sit on each other’s knee at Old Trafford last Thursday. Vaccinated or not no problem. Plus everyone can gather in the pubs before and after the game with no restrictions. As I said rubbish. The government is a joke.
Well, people can still travel - just a bit more cost and hassle that's all. Thank God the UK and Spanish governments have tightened things up to keep us all safer. These governments are trying to cut down the spread of a virus that has caused multiple lockdowns and killed over 5 million people. I think ALL governments should go further and make vaccinations compulsory and fine people who don't get them except those legitimately exempt for medical reasons. Sorry if this upsets the airline business but people keeping alive is far more important in my opinion.
Spent the day at the local carnival and these Canarians know how to party.
What do I find when I arrive home is a further blow to visitors dished out by this cooking totally inept UK government. Now testing required on all visitors returning to the UK from Tuesday. The hotels are already receiving cancellations due to the crazy decision that only vaccinated visitors will be allowed into Spain and it’s territories (Spanish government decision). Add this testing requirement now for arriving in the UK and this will be a massive blow to the airline business.
Man am I glad I spend my time here with no thought of returning but I feel sorry for people who have been looking forward to leaving behind that crappy weather for a couple of weeks.
