Daily mail lead story face masks require forever in certain circumstances.
From the 9th June RNS - "the machine should be fully operational by early July. With the machine at BioCity unable to meet the anticipated demand, the Board outsourced the manufacturing of the mask to Volz Filters UK."
Dr Cave said in his Sunday Roast interview that they would be using the Lemu machine for testing & development. If, as he also said, they would outsource manufacturing to Volz, that would add a cost to the mask.

Jezabel errrrrrrrrr there are not just nurses and doctors work in nhs lol and i was offered a it 2nd line job for £13 per hour thats peanuts
Do you even know what doctors and nurses get paid? It is not as high as they would like but it is not "peanuts". And it comes out of your and my pockets in taxes, which, also, are not peanuts. (in my case , anyway)
poorinvester i agree pal we over priced the mask compared to the market you know what the uk public is like if can buy cheaper they will . As fo the the NHS the pay peanuts in staff wages and also purchasing kit they get the cheapest
I would guess that they know they will need to sell at a discount to get big orders (eg the NHS) over the line, but having sold them in the market for a higher price improves their bargaining position when negotiating what that % discount should be.
SANDFORD, This mask at the most is costing them 30p to produce, I wonder why they are selling it for over a pound. Volz will produce this mask for under 10p easily. The most expensive thing in the uk for manufacturing is Labour costs, as our machine does most of the work, this mask shouldn't be so expensive. I have some experience with manufacturing.
Morning Have sent pictures of the face mask to friends and family on WhatsApp and Messenger. But still seems to be ignorance of this mask. Pricey maybe? But you can't put a price on life. The only COVID KILLING FACE MASK. Stay strong. GLAH.
