Inaccurate. It depends upon altitude, speed, length of journey. Age of aircraft, many variables.
nd71 headrest covers with our patent on that may work if it attracts the virus on to the copper infused ink great idea as i know they get changed every turnaround
Be a lot cheaper to wear a pro-larva mask, first class might be issued two for long haul lol
Aircraft designers all had their own systems which varied considerably depending on aircraft type and mixing of air. It’s well known that recirculated air use was much more efficient in terms of flight fuel burn rates. Huge task to implement nanotechnology but not impossible depending on the value of safety ref viruses in the future. If this venture is worth the cost and the related benefits it’s possible.
Also remember that older aircraft do not use HEPA, which amounts to a huge number of aircraft... Wear a mask for protection.
It’s 99.97 %
Ok so would you agree that whether HEPA system or UVV then the advice would be to wear a mask? In my opinion that mask would be one that kills viruses?
Utter rubbish. Completely inaccurate. No mainstream commercial aircraft uses 100% recycled air, it’s more like 50/50 fresh/recycled with all air recycled around every 5-10 minutes. On top of this, they all use HEPA filters which filter out 99% of bacteria and viruses. If the person next to you has a cold you might catch it, someone a few rows back is very unlikely to give you anything...
Laverock, no not an expert by any means, the designers are the brains, I just fix the damn things lol
I admire that you are experts in a field but why have you not mentioned UVC HVAC systems?
Cavendish, you are absolutely right there. My point was Mods can be embodied at speed where there are major safety concerns. Of course that’s proving the the cause and any cure is found pronto Remember the square windows on commets?
Personally I don’t think we have a solution for aircraft air conditioning to include nano particle technology. Mask wearing will be sufficient for flights, preferably the pro-larva due to its effectiveness against COVID and influenza. In the future filtration maybe an answer but design is way down the line.
That then gets me onto the antiquated filtration systems out there in the world, especially in the old Hotels & some cruise ships, with HVAC systems that are just a breeding ground for all sorts of diseases. In the future I'll be travelling abroad with P2F masks.....
If interested just look up "HEPA" because most high end aircrafts use that type of filtration..... But as stated it makes no difference... That's why Virus, Covid killing masks should be worn!
*effective not affective...
I would also like to add that it doesn't matter how affective the filtration system on the aircraft is, which could be close to 100% effective on the most sophisticated filtration systems . It is the surrounding continous breath from people thats the issue. That's why masks are needed on aircraft. Up until now people have been wearing a mask that does nothing but show compliance. Our mask changes that forever....
Lockedandloaded
Well, I’m not as qualified as you clearly, I just drive em.
Electronic flight deck door locks were indeed installed quickly. My doubt, is installing finer materials into the air conditioning/ pressurisation systems.
SM66, I agree generally as an aircraft engineer longer than I care to remember. However the door modifications after 9/11 were done pretty quick for obvious reasons. There are exceptions on speed of modifications on the grounds of safety!’ Where necessary.
Marab
I’m a commercial captain with a well known airline, have been for too long.
Regulatory requirements, fire tests etc would in my opinion take years to get approval.
Aviation moves very slowly.
Masks a much better and immediate remedy.
sm 66 ; i know this is looking into the future but i think you can put our patent on aircraft filters see https://www.pall.co.uk/uk/en/aerospace/commercial-fixed-wing/how-cabin-air-systems-work.html
Sorry but aircraft filters isn’t going to happen.
Regulatory red tape to the moon just to put a cup holder on an aircraft!
If you are in need of constant reassurance maybe look at a safer investment. You could maybe have a car boot and add to your holding to average down! Either way, i think everyone has heard your worries.....
Jodrell13, i have read your posts for months and all are negative. Indeed, theres a slight whining noise and undertones of moaning. I understand you are underwater and feeling the heat but its very tiring. Therefore, you are filtered, good luck!
@Edward75 - Absolute rubbish!
If RMS technology is applied to designing ventilation/filter systems on aeroplanes then this may remove the need for the individual passengers using a face mask.
