Reorganisation and managerial VR'S have been almost BAU for the last 15 years I personally went through the process 3 or 4 times sometimes a desk top process or actually having to reapply the post you currently held. I agree they will get a fair number applying certainly from the operational side perhaps less so in the support functions. Worth keeping in mind there are significant numbers of managers out with the direct operation. I am surprised they are saying the bulk will come from ops but as Oligarch says perhaps the ratio can be stretched and if so achieving say 1 each in say 500 delivery office/hubs/transport/mail centres etc and a further 200 in support functions Finance.IT/Field services/ Customer service etc wont be that difficult to achieve. I don't see it filtering down to frontline delivery/processing teams but who knows I was very surprised to read recently the CWU had agreed to the removal of some jobs via VR suggesting to me they will consider each time new tech/automation some jobs/staff may go if they cant be utilised/redeployed elsewhere. At least todays news has stopped the slide in SP somewhat. GL
AngerSharkz, RM have a ratio of around one manager to twenty staff and have always been top heavy on this. There was a surplus of applications in the last round of management VRs so I suspect that there will not be a problem this time around. Apparently most of the redundancies will be in deliveries so this would equate to around one VR in every large delivery office.
Moya Greene has already sold off the more profitable parts of the estate so there's nothing much left to sell there, so slimming down the management structure will be next.
A £40m year on year saving is good but how long until the BoD needs a bigger slice? Time will tell.
An egg on face moment for your manager...lol
Why would he think that delivery postie's would be cut, especially with the SWW and a seven day parcel delivery service on the way?
900 managers to be cut in Scotland? That's probably all of them...lol
This is good news for shareholder far to many managers they have zero work load finishing shifts early RM this should have been sorted out years ago. Once they sort this one they really need to look at the overtime paid to the staff. I have seen first hand staff getting paid overtime starting their shift early to cover other jobs but this does not happen they just get on with loading there van getting out the depo early so they can finish the shift early and the managers do absolutely nothing about the millions of pond in overtime paymentscash……
Only 700? on the call they said 900 just in Scotland. I heard half the call we're a small office manager let some off us here it cause we thought it was going to be a cut to posties
