I’m going to stick my neck out here Char and say that I feel today was actually a positive indicator for RDS. You know I’m not too obsessed with £15, although my eyes are on £16 in the not too distant. The ‘bottom’ is more important for me and today RDS got tested along with the market and the support AND trend at 1418 held firm:

I think that’s a big deal - and better than I’d have anticipated under the circumstances. If the baseline has moved up to 1418, or even 1400 - it’s a significant step on the upward ladder as far as I’m concerned.
bp's DIVI is due friday + the dollar went up today + it pays out divi in dollars, so holders will get a little more. dow down nearly 10000pts. energy the biggist faller on s + p. im guessing were down below £14 , so i will top up again tomorrow, those reinvesting their divi, may do best to wait a while, but it will take a while for this mess to pass through. yet another china problem as reared up + spooked the markets. i think you can forget £15 any time soon. ive long said this year is a write off. where share price is , come results , is anyones guess, but i doubt it wont be anywhere near £15, i fear. batton down the hatches time, yet gain. always seems to plummet on divi day. were gonna need some luck now. i recall about 18 months ago , pokerchips giving 10 reasons as to why we wont see much improvement in share price . most of those things have come + gone. trump , russia v suadis. cv 19 etc etc. but thats the problem, over time more problems arise, so its inevitable that its a long way back, .
Ha! -yes Getagrip - it's an old chestnut and I had to bite,
Thing is , I could hardly point to BP to justify my argument could I? Fortunately for me CVX and XOM covered that angle. I'm not sure why BP kept so firm today given the general market.
My main worry is RDS' UK Energy business: that can't be doing well if the other suppliers are anything to go by.
SP should rise in next day or so cos of div reinvestment, then drop back.
I knew you would.
I think the dip in the entire market was probably the main factor: https://invst.ly/w2r1r (RDSb v FTSE100)
The markets are a bit volatile, but it's amazing how often the money actually leaves the building & the shares dip in tandem with this! A complete mystery or a predictable pattern of events not evidenced in accountancy books & theories.
