harp? Should read hsfo (high sulphur fuel oil)
“Long long term I think most people agree that biofuels probably will be supplanted (pun not intended) by other technologies, but there's a large opening for them now.”
It’s likely there will be many decades of carbon based fuels and biofuels before they’re phased out.
At the moment it seems the major players within the industry agree that the cheapest fuel option (harp) is no longer sustainable for the planet or their business and as such are willing to use much more expensive and less polluting fuel. If this consensus continues then there’s hope us and those who follow on.
“Thanks dusty, keep em coming. At least you know what you are talking about, far better than me....
Well, at least we can agree on something Colins, maybe do some research before you let your belly rumble next time.
Sticks and stones Sali, at least a few of us have smiled this morning, get back into bed, have a good sleep and then start again, you might find people then enjoy your presence on here.
Thanks dusty, keep em coming. At least you know what you are talking about, far better than me.....
Crude glycerine is a byproduct of the biodiesel industry and the food processing industry. It's a considered carbon neutral input as the idea is that the carbon is recaptured when more crops are grown. This is slightly misleading IMO as most bio crops require some carbon-intensive inputs such as fertilisers and pesticides which meaningfully contribute carbon (plus in some regions poor land management, etc). However, it's much lower than conventional fuel sources.
So from an accounting perspective the bioglycerol component does not contribute carbon to the product.
Other interesting ideas include use of lignin waste, which is a byproduct of the paper and timber industry; trees tend not to require much fertiliser, and they can use use 'vertical' space more efficiently.
There are also developing ideas around the use of problematic waste plastic streams (better than leeching or getting into water streams), and development of microorganisms to produce glycerol (algal or bacterially). Historically microorganism-based fuel production hasn't been very competitive on a cost/energy basis because organisms are inefficient compared to engineered methods, but let's see.
Long long term I think most people agree that biofuels probably will be supplanted (pun not intended) by other technologies, but there's a large opening for them now.
I usually smile when I read the garbage you post Colin’s. when do you expect news on our Moroccan power project? Might be a while.
Keep smiling Kurly, looks like Sali has fallen out of the wrong side of the bed again. I wonder if he ever smiles.....
Credibility zero, couldn’t care less what you claim to buy or sell.
Here we are Friday again, it comes round so fast
Still no news but will hold on to my collection
Still picking up more as the Sp tumbles something I said I wouldn't do
Keep saying just one contract will do it
Have a good weekend
Keep smiling
Kurly
