I'm not saying it's of no use, i am saying that congregating people into a testing area is high risk. It works with local testing areas at the moment because people drive in stay in their car and leave in their car only interacting with the tester.
But the reason for testing is beyond whether you infect anyone else during your journey. Other countries are not going to open up their borders on this basis, because the thing that is stopping travel is the closure of borders and stopping spread of infection from other countries. It's not just about whether transmission occurs on the flight, or during a concert or a match. They will not take this level of risk. Look at the super spreaders.
I think immunity is already 100% confirmed, what is unknown is the level of immunity and how long it lasts. Either way it wont reduce demand of antibody tests below the level that can be produced because there is still a need to understand the movement of the virus, identify those with plasma that may help in the fight against the disease.
I think the home swab kit has legs, but im afraid it's not key to unlocking travel and mass events. The ideal solution would be a home swab test and a home antibody test. Only by taking both do you know for sure, unless one tests positive before the other. Just remember the window for testing is 3-5 days ideally, which is such a short space of time. There are areas where regular testing may take place, like with the premier league, perhaps some corporations, but i dont see the regular testing market as big as some might think.
Hi again RB it’s good to have these kind of debates because at the end of the day we are all in the same boat (well providing you have been tested)
Your argument that a Nasal/throat swab or saliva test is if no use because the other passenger could have picked up the virus on the way to the airport ie
100% of the time on the day you are exposed to the virus. (There are so few viral particles in your nose or saliva so soon after infection that the test cannot detect them.)
Well there can be very little virus (if any) to pass on to another person then?
An antibody test is only going to be useful once the WHO establishes that we are immune after infection?
RH, fair post. Yes there is a lot of competition and a race to profit from Covid. Some of the companies are just hanging on to the hype. But a government backed test, which has no relevant competition in terms of gold standard, home testing, relevant approval will make this succeed long term. Especially when certification comes into play.
Refer back to the 5 pillars of the government strategy, 5th pillar to build a home grown leading diagnostics industry. Covid in the short term (2-3 years) will benefit the industry in the long term. This is not a bubble, it is a wake up call. The free cash flow this will produce over the coming years will provide significant investment for the growth of the industry.
BTW - here's the science behind why swab testing will not work to enable travel and mass events - the ideal testing time is 3-5 days, and 100% false negative on the day of transmission:
"If you get the nasal/throat swab or saliva test, you will get a false negative test result:
100% of the time on the day you are exposed to the virus. (There are so few viral particles in your nose or saliva so soon after infection that the test cannot detect them.)
About 40% of the time if you are tested four days after exposure to the virus.
About 20% of the time if you develop symptoms and are tested three days after those symptoms started."

Hi MB nobody is going to get the timing perfect but IMO it is time now for everyone to at least be thinking about reducing their holdings in any company even remotely linked to testing! Everyone and their dog seems to bringing out some sort of testing kit at the moment. The last couple of days that is exactly what I have been doing with my AVCT shares. Now have a large holding in AML.
Hope it goes well for everybody here but somebody needs to remind the Newbies to be wary.
IMHO DYOR
Bubble is gonna burst but you have a large holding in AVCT!! Maybe take your own advice and offload that then?!
Not another one of this talking about swab tests before getting on a plane.... It is floored. I wouldn't want to congregate in a testing centre where all the passengers from different flights and different locations are all going for the same test. Its kamakaze bottle necking everyone to get tested. How to most people get to airports, particularly London. Public transport. What if you catch the virus on the way to the airport or to get tested, its too early to produce a positive test, but during the flight and over the next few days you get sick??
This will never happen. Swab testing before travel or to enable mass events to take place will never happen. It is not in the strategy, never have the government talked about it. Scientifically it is floored because the testing window is so short.
The key to unlocking travel is immunity passports.
It remains unclear whether people who have been infected with the coronavirus are at risk of becoming infected again, the World Health Organization said Wednesday.
"The jury is still very much out on that," Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of the WHO's emergencies program.
Before boarding a plane (for example) I would like to know if the stranger I am going to be sitting next to currently has the virus. I couldn’t care less if he has had it!
I’m just saying be careful and don’t believe all the hype. IMHO DYOR!!

You say take a look in twitter..
Indeed type in the ticker of any aims stock on twitter and its a 10 bagger.
Last place to trust would be twitter.
Over 7000 trades yesterday that isn't just small pi's
This will boune back quickly mms have gathered a few shares now for the next leg up the company were forced to put that rns out by a disgruntled person reporting them to the regulators. Nothing has changed except they have told you in the rns that they WILL BE MANUFACTURING. Load up if you can this is Ncyt all over again.
Wise words and good practice to follow, Roxbury.
Small Pharmaceutical and Biotech area entering a new dynamic phase with Investors having been DEAD for over 20 years.
Elon - What a few don't understand is the virus will remain with us for a while as long as a vaccine is not available. Then assume the vaccine arrives, it takes a year or so to cover a few billions worldwide. Then a vaccine must target only those without antibodies. So How do we know ? By testing for antibodies of course. So antibody testing will be the standard practice, with or without a vaccine in order to allow people to return to work/travel etc. So no need for a diagram to understand that ODX will be very busy for a few years to come (some countries in Africa and South America haven't even peaked). My conclusion is that antibody testing is the only tool and hope left for countries to release with confidence people into factories, offices, airports. When ODX kit arrives, it will be the only POC test on offer for antibodies diagnosis. All the others are for antigen which will play only a supporting role for antibody testing (if someone doesn not have antibodoes he/she may be tested for the virus). Knowing the experience and the expertise of the UK RTC, I am not sure any other company would produce something more accurate for antibodies. So IMO we are only at the start of "antibodies revolution".
Good morning All,
What relevance is a ‘Pharmaceutical Bubble’ to ODX? It’s a DIAGNOSTICS company. Totally different sector. When people can’t even get basics right I just switch off straight away.
Expecting a strong recovery today from yesterday afternoons disgraceful activities.
Yep your right there on the button I bought ny £4.10 also I am in odx large
Sold almost all yesterday at 85p
Hold my last 20,000 for the long term
Very wise advise Roxbury. I still have some singe burns on my fingers from the tech bubble from having my fingers in far too many pies thinking it was all easy money. Learnt the hard way. Now take a profit, slice and stay diversified across sectors. This COVID stocks should be taken seriously and money to be made but no one should overextend themselves financially.
Be a long term investment for some;just like those who purchased NCYT @4.00 plus imho;but good luck all
Nobody knows when but just like the dot.com boom/bust it will happen.
So many people here spouting off “facts” about this Company and talking through their backsides. They even believe their own hype but just like in 2000 their will be lots of people left in debt. Believe me I was one of them. I am watching this unfold and just want to remind you all to be very careful.
That’s all I am saying. IMHO DYOR
