My friend works for the NHS and she’s been supplied with the innova test - absolute disgrace ! ODX get your fingers out your arse and tell us when the “ gold standard” will stop being the think of Myths & legends and actually show its face . So Glad ODX are a PR firm , they are clueless , so many promised dates !!!!!!!!!
Should have added that the literature states MHRA approval has been given for this test. Need to look again but from memory it's that specific test and testing program rather than general home use.
Stop making excuses for them to do it - oooh its not pleasant. A bit of encouragement, like blocking instagram, snapchat & any other bullcarp platforms they use. Most kids (well including the millenials) are snowflake types. where's my phone boohoohoo.
I am glad they are doing this testing even if it is a little uncomfortable, sending you kids to school everyday not knowing if they are going to return with some nasty virus is much worse. IMO this is going to a signal a permanent change in how contagious disease is managed going forward. With investment and wide availability for testing for all sort of disease that can be done in the home, many more people will be able to diagnose much earlier the onset of many illness.
The trials of cerival smear home sample collection is amazing and will save 1000's of lives. This is hte first step towards ahev some sort of device that will scan you daily for all sorts of illnesses, this will be bigger than the impact of anti biotics on medicine over the coming decades, our grandkids will look back on ourday and find it hard to beleive that people walekd around will diseases they didn;t know they had!
In Scotland, they are NHS Test and Trace branded only, down the throat and up the nose type. No test in school all testing done at home.
are these tests the last remnants of the Innova rubbish I wonder?
EkXoc, how do you know what type of test the kids are having? (Not a leading question) I suppose there could still be a lot of old testsl to us up. My 15 year old managed to test at home with little more than encouragement from me but it was uncomfortable to say the least and I doubt it would have been successful if I wasn't watching

"I was hoping for just a spit test im not sure which tests requie what sort of sampling, are there any that just use spit?"
There are no saliva tests that are currently approved and they're down the priority list for evaluation by Porton Down. Priority is being given to tests that use anterior nares, mid-turbinate or oropharyngeal samples.
''yes unfortunately they are back of the throat and up the nose swabs, which I think could be a problem for some kids'',
The very reason the success rate goes to 50% or below with these lft's.

Glad they are doing it though
The first three tests will be done at school (which is causing the schools some problems, though my school is very good and they seem to have sorted it quickly, kids in on monday take a test then go home and start lessons on tuesday if they are negative then another test on thurs)
. The appear to be using this initial three tests as 'training' for the kids to be able to continue testing themselves at home so we should be getting some tests next week for future home use.
I got an email from the school yesterday regarding my sons return and testing. They are giving us another update later this week, presume that will be tomorrow now.
"We will provide more details to parents and students in due course, hopefully later this week. We are currently amending our risk assessments to meet the new requirements, and creating a plan to conduct tests for all students when they return. In line with all schools, we want to get all students back in as quickly as possible from 8th March, and we are working out how we can best make this happen with the testing requirements".
Are the kids in school testing themselves or is it carried out by a staff member or volunteer?
Has anyone got a contact in a school and have they received any tests to date
EK, well they will most likely still have some of that Innova carp to get rid of, and Surescreen are knocking them out too!
I have seen the details of how the schools will run the testing. It is following the plan devised by Durham Uni, however there is no indication of which tests will be used from what I can see. The Gov will be requiring 3 mil devices next monday and another 3 on Thurs, a further 3 mil the following monday and it seems the plan is to distribute many more to be used at home. So question is where are they getting 10+ million devices from in the next two weeks?
