Many thanks for the info - food for thought. Think I might either top up hear with MTR or have apunt on CBE.
Thanks, folks. I'll take a look at II.
On a separate point and with reference to Jonfon's post re royalties, I was wondering what price is used in the calculation. Is it the headline price we see quoted, which I presume is for copper in its final refined state and at the end of the supply chain or is a lower price used? can anyone enlighten me please?
Yeah you can buy ASX shares through II and in your S+S ISA aswell - did just that recently. Volume is minimal at the minute of Cobre so it’s quite volatile..
As you held MOD shares you know how that went - I took cash personally. I envisage the exact same thing again, they have alluded to that today in the interview. MTR have a circa 60% exposure to KML (50% + 20% of 50%) plus they will her the NSR over these areas.
Short term they’ll both do very well - assuming they hit what they think is there. CBE have 10m cash and 20m MC, MTR have 40m MC and that is backed almost entirely by cash and liquid assets (arguably under valued as nothing/little attributed to the NSR)
Long term it’s all about MTR. Cobre will be taken out, MTR will receive yet another bumper pay day and it’s NSR will reap yet further m rewards. I believe there is a provision like the MOD in the event of a sale - I need to clarify that.
I have taken exposure to both in an expectation of a repeat of how T3/MOD went. I’m in CBE at a much better price than I was MOD so I expect better returns given the fact that they’ll be little to no concerns in the event a resource is found. Nice. ATB.

KB I use Interactive Investors. Easy to use.
Good morning Hydrogen, can I ask who you used to buy the Cobre shares? A little while back I wanted to buy some SFR shares but Hargreaves Lansdown , where we've got all our investments said they couldn't/wouldn't do the deal. I am reluctant to move our accounts from HL as I find them easy to deal with but I suppose I could open an account somewhere else as well.
As a long term MTR holder and one who Met the late great Terry Grammer when he informed me into MOD's company could I ask if you could explain the Cobre share set up? I held MOD shares that were converted to Sandfire and still hold so looking into a investment in Cobre as well to maybe replicate if we are lucky. After reading the cobre quarterly I can see the joint venture set up and the MTR increase of funds (at the placement) but hard to see directly which company gives the most exposure to a copper find on this current drilling programme. Looks to be 50x50 as to share holding in KML? I think anyway. However Market cap is £15M to £40M ref Cobre to MTR so that is a big advantage. From memory MOD went from 0.4 cents to something like 40cents on some initial drilling and the rest they say is history!! However Cobre with a 2 year fund for drilling and other projects than just Botswana looks a decent punt to me. Appreciate the replies in advance.
The mad thing is, this is a winner. There IS high grade copper and silver in the ground across the KCB and we have exposure to over 14,000KM2!!! That area is simply astounding, it really is district scale.
The only question for me is how much of a winner it is. Life changing for some that’s for sure but could it be so for some those with more modest holdings.. that’s the real question. I’m happy to wait for the answer.
Exposure to Cobre for a short term capital return / monetising event, both for myself and more importantly for MTR. ATB.
Well said Taylot I take comfort from being invested here because MTR has several interesting mining investments as opposed to me trying to pick winners from a wide range of small cap mining & exploration shares.
We’ve had a good move, only natural (and healthy) for the price action to chill a little. Don’t focus on the now, look at where this is headed. Copper price continues to strengthen, expecting a healthy retrace there as well - although I’ve been expecting that since 4.50..
So much going on here, just let the BoD go about there business and let the drill bits do there talking. Accounts imminent, ASX listing to follow 5 days later, then increased PR with updated presentation. It would be great for SFR to give us a decent update on bots but KS doesn’t appear to be forthcoming.. seems intentional to me personally. But with KML drilling starting I think he’ll need to start making some moves/decisions before the bigger boys start to look at get neighbourhood, if there’s a decent hit in these first holes.. and with the copper price action... exciting!!!!
Yet the sp is actually down this morning? Maybe Proactive Investors news jinxes companies?
