Afternoon Barchid. Covid is pretty low in Japan and they exclude everybody except for humanitarian or urgent business so little danger of it becoming an epidemic there. Plus the yen is a flight to safety currency. I think Suga will not have a difficult transition and in the light of struggling economies elsewhere Japan is a safer home than many others for your dollars. Happy to hold here despite sterling returns already on my holdings.
@Falling
They have done really well recently, I'm hanging on but will add to them on any significant fall back. Discount has narrowed considerably, currently under 5%.
Up 25% since the director buy. The land of the rising SP. Lots of optimism around Japan after Suga has taken the reins. I got a yen a to buy some more actually.
a week after results. So some confidence shown that JPS is good value at these levels. I think the sun is rising over Japan again.
Marginally outperforming the index but in a sweet spot as Japan is performing well with abenomics- at least short-term. Decent yield as it paid 18p in divis last year and if the NAV gorws the yiled will go up too. Favourable loan terms with no early repayment penalty gives good felexibility. The US/CHINA trade issue is a cloud but I think JPS has further to go.
Smaller cos in Japan is one of the few areas where there is growth. With a low yen, cheaper energy and nacent signs of China recovery, this growth could continue. The sub shares appear very atractive. I hold. GK.
