Never on a friday mole - unless you are looking to bury bad news. Always known as "poets day" in the Financial and City Press Corps with all weekend columns in the majors pre-written and filled with stodge, tables and stats, investment strategies and celebrity investment stories.
Totally agree with your heartfelt request for news, but for maximum effect - which we certainly need as the SP drifts in the information famine - timing is of the essence. Early next week would be fine by me - if not, a nudge for your in-house contact would be most appropriate.
Would be nice as started to drift . Hopefully very soon
Viable yes indeed very small punt but none the less annoying as been working in office last few days so commuting and not able to buy/sell and been busy so it's one of those things. Always seems to be the way. Holding them now as not worth selling and waiting for an explanation.
I'll have a look at your others and start to track them to see how they do. I often do that as much as an education about the businesses.
One thing did come to mind when I was looking at the marine track on IOG other day was whether when doing the final connection and switch on for Bacton having the vessels nearer Blythe and Elgood made sense and out of the way of Southwark while they sort it out. Come on IOG get it over the line.
@ 16:15 - I don't know if I shall still be in here in 12 months' time but hope so. Having noted a comment about ADV it is to be hoped the word "small" did indeed apply. As I seldom, if ever, rubbish a stock an earlier post on the subject gave a strong hint about exiting with the word "factors": simply put, the biggest of them was the unconvincing geological data. I therefore exited last week @ 4.65p regretting perhaps not hanging in until 5p.
Besides five other fairly sound stocks I have in fact sold half of a CEY (@ 7% loss) stake because of a preference to add to PTAL and THS. My reasons for doing so are fairly sound. Although Peru has not been visited Manolo, all being well, has sorted the Loretan tribal conflict and unrest. (He has an aura with the indigenes who refer to him as "Brother") Production will grow markedly for the next 2 - 3 years.
THS mining areas in Rustenburg and Ngezi (Great Dyke) are well known to me. With its basket of PGMs the company will grow strongly this year . . . reflecting a steady SP increase. It has become part of core holding. JSE comprises the biggest percentage in the AIM p/f.
My next exercise is to inspect AXL which has overheated somewhat. They listed a few weeks ago. The Llanos basin, Putumayo and northern Colombia have been studied at length for 2 years. Company accounts' examination is a priority. DELT to a lesser extent deserves a spot of attention. KIST is another victim of hype . . . am none too sure about continuing but keeping an eye on JU rig Prospector 1 and AA statements.
My hopes on IOG are high . . . and it has held up quite well bearing in mind the frailty of some PI's attention deficit. We are a bit like grasshoppers.
No more o/t from me.
Friday great for the weekend papers surely....You would think it's a good news story when it lands but with all the sniping at UK oil and gas in the global gas spike and likely funders to support bills especially unfair if it lets super profits of imports stand who knows what the headline would be! North sea carpet baggers land at Bacton to exploit poor UK customers.....rather than plucky UK company and its band of battle scared investors do their bit to ease gas crisis and bail out LOG bondholders at same time.....while still waiting to hear when their rig will be back working after 4 months of unplanned delays.
If bill payers think investing in o & g expo and extraction is easy then think again. It's expensive and risky for investors particularly in small cap players. Let alone the frustration it can cause........we are due at least some periods where the rewards justify the considerable risks.
And I extend that same sentiment to ALT energy which I also have supported over many years on AIM and hoping to enjoy a pot of gold at the end of those rainbows one day. The investment needed and risk over an extended period there is equally vexing.
Sermon over......now come on IOG let's be having you.
mole - bad luck with the nosedive at ADV, which was a bit dramatic - but with imminent good news here you should soon redress the balance. Friday is not a good day for major news releases - so we look to next week for some education from AH. When it comes it needs to be strong and detailed, and include some positives from the re-drilling programme at Southwark.
Indeed we are pushing the early weeks now (you know that when you stop saying happy new year) but inside the latitude of the last RnS. What that of course means is back end 2021 RNS were not entirely accurate as they must absolutely have known it would take too longer by weeks not days. Fingers crossed it's near.
Absolutely nothing can be done. Worse things happen like the obliteration of my small punt at ADV yesterday the saga of which surpasses by a country mile the bad days IOG have delivered.
So a nice RNS here please IOG to end my week would not go amiss.
The RNS did only state the early weeks of 2022 so no mention of a specific month, which was queried on this board at the time as potentially meaning it could be Feb at least, so not late according to that update due to it's vagueness. So much mention in it of safety does raise thoughts of whether they have concerns about a specific risk at Bacton, but again surely they would have to announce it if problems have arisen to further delay first gas ? If lack of news stretches into mid Feb then I would be very concerned as that in my mind would be beyond "early weeks of 2022".
Agree with gator and all on Bacton and the pressing need for news. Since the acquisition in October 2019, we have never really been told the extent of necessary repair works, and the time scale required for returning the facility to full working mode. My views on the PR lapses of this company and their lack of cutting edge expertise in this area are well known on this board - but I would endorse denis to say that the only release we need to see at this stage is a positive "job done".
NPM, I have also been a long term investor in the company and, while. like all PI's, I await the announcement of first gas (here we are now well into in the second half of January), I share your thoughts on Bacton, which was actually acquired in October 2019. For whatever reason(s), progress announcements on the terminal have been few and far between and their absence has, I suspect, fuelled questions in more than just your and my minds, not least recently. Clearly, if there are Bacton issues, investors, big and small, need to know. I have long questioned the company's media strategy, which has historically left me scratching my head. Let's hope that all is progressing well onshore but the company does need to clarify the situation to the market.
