He would be better off doing this in Southern Africa. Of FJET.s two mainland.destinations Mwansa is a pleasant enough city but not on any main tourist route; Mbeya is a distinctly edgy place on a major smuggling route from Quilemane/ Dar to the Congo with some industry. Most tourists arriving to visit rhe game parks transfer to small airlines such as Zanair and Coastal.

Acacia was formerly Barrick Gold, the large Canadian mining conglomerate with a checkered history of ethics and environmental violations in many countries. This is not the first time the company has had problems of a similar nature and now that Magafuli is at the helm, there seems to be more determination to properly determine what they are actually extracting and exporting. Having said that, it's certainly the case that life is being made much more difficult for most foreign companies now. Whether this is deliberate discrimination or just Magafuli trying to stamp out corruption is difficult to know really. But Tanzanian bureaucracy is stiflingly slow and inefficient so that also doesn't help. Whatever the truth, there's no doubt that many foreign business people are leaving or contemplating doing so. Two of my acquaintances have already transferred their core operations to Kenya
Good luck with EDL. Now that the TZ Government has banned the import of foreign coal, perhaps EDL is a contrarian play against the rising popularism. I have been in and out of Shanta but they seem to promise more than they deliver.
None taken Just two of my five no fantasy intended
Yes but you are obviously a fantasist, as you are presumably in FJET, like the rest of us dreamers! Tongue in cheek comment, no offence intended,
Seven 737 (500) AOC granted, together with rainbow I will believe it when I see it, I hope Nico has plans for more than 49 seats twice a day,
Seemingly east africa is better placed with it's established tourist destinations ? My guess is that Nico will cherry pick those and possiby mix in new routes within SA at some point. Perhaps we have the 'incompetent management' under control now at least....
Talking of mining in TZ , I'm in EDL
I've been involved in aviation in Africa for the last 39 years, 35 of which were in West Africa and seen the collapse of a myriad of carriers. I once worked for the most successful local airline in Nigeria, Aero Contractors, but that is almost defunct and its management has been taken over by AMCON. Most of the failures have been down to state protectionism, corruption and incompetent management (usually all 3). Unfortunately I don't see any great prospects of that changing in the next 10 years or more
I do not know members are following the travails of Acacia Mining in Tanzania, but it points to a less welcoming environment for foreign firms - guilty until proven innocent seems tje Governments position. Let me say that no doubt Acacia are pushing transfer pricing and global invoicing to externalise and boost profitability, but that is not to say they are acting illegally. I think the Tanzania for the Tanzanians mindset that seems to be increasingly ingrained will not help FJET in that country.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-39979814 Worth a read, the second half of the article "Why the African aviation business has not taken off"
HARARE – Conservationists say 94 critically endangered vultures have died on the border of Zimbabwe and Mozambique. https://conservationaction.co.za/recent-news/94-critically-endangered-vultures-die-zimbabwe-mozambique-border/
I was fully expecting to see your heading quoted by airport staff in the clip! Quite disappointed!
Indeed they are and it will probably work for them however they also have precision now on the route.
Emirates would not dream of going ahead with that untill we have a stable schedule, meanwhile Precision have teamed up with Quatar .
looks like publication of the results again is being held back to late in the regulatory window ( by June 30 ). Usually a negative indication, and I expect the actual figures to be grim. I guess the guidance will determine if we get a move upwards. Perhaps that will be the case with the Zimbabwe operation, but perhaps not for Tanzania.
What happened to us linking in with Emirates was this just another hype from our former Director
They are using a much smaller aircraft than the A319 this may help Have Government officials etc guaranteed Against I think a lot of passengers are going to connecting flights which Kenyan airlines are better positioned to service with a better schedule
I wonder if ATCL will make a success on what was our BIGGEST loss making route Nairobery Dar,
