Fastjet went into Mozambique eyes WIDE open and aware of taxes charged for air travel, I agree that they do stifle customer numbers but we cant blame anyone but ourselves if indeed we have cut back on the flying program.
we have had to cut back the second Rotations in most cases presumably until we have greater PAX on the ones remaining. I am disappointed but not surprised as the 300%+ Taxes on top of the fare are beyond belief and daylight robbery. Someone tell Mozambique about the Laffer Curve where lower taxes can have greater total Tax collected.
our E190 FJI flew to and from Dar Today ? Not Just Circuits
There maybe some of this guy's descendents on this board In Greek mythology Sisyphus or Sisyphos (/ˈsɪsɪfəs/;[2] Greek: Σίσυφος, Ssuphos) was the king of Ephyra (now known as Corinth). He was punished for his self-aggrandizing craftiness and deceitfulness by being forced to roll an immense boulder up a hill, only to watch it come back to hit him, and forced to repeat this action for eternity. Through the classical influence on modern culture, tasks that are both laborious and futile are therefore described as Sisyphean

Fastjet is reportedly also planning to start regional services and Johannesburg, Lusaka and Harare have been mentioned already as potential targets. Mozambique for long made competitive air transport, both domestic and regional, almost impossible but the economic changes the country is undergoing has seen this tabu lifted and Fastjets operation is among the first to be given traffic rights to local airports.
