Grotty thanks for the link. MotleyFool is living up to its name again, low on fact, high on partially-informed speculation. :-/ Probably still sore they advised readers not to buy DARK when the SP was half of what it is now - Doh!
There's no actual link for their figure quoted, but retaining 92.3% of repeat clients is remarkable in any sales situation, including paid cybersec, more so when you consider the extreme economic pressures of the last year. Let's not forget to take into account the 41% rise in sales either!
Going to comment on this Fool article some more on a separate thread.
Thanks PB And GF. Good to see some debate again on the fundamentals of the company that will affect its intrinsic value, rather than just a focus on the short term price movements. It reminds me of a Buffett throwaway “ price is what you pay, value is what you get”. And that value depends, of course, on the difference of only two main factors - revenue from customers and the cost in meeting those customers’, needs, requirements and expectations.
It's a good highlight GF. With the breakneck speed of increasing the customer base there is bound to be some creaking at the seams for Darktrace, or any organisation in the world in a similar position For me the key is going to be attraction and retention of the very best cyber security expertise in the world consistently. At both management and staff level. After all they are the ones providing the first point of contact at Darktrace after identifying a problem & the back-up expertise & advice on an ongoing basis. There is intense competition for these experts & the price will go up - so another metric to watch.
SentinelOne recently opened a development office in the Czech Republic with the primary aim of attracting, nurturing and developing another vein of this type of talent. For now I would put the increase in customer dissatisfaction down to growing pains for now, but it is definitely one of the metrics to watch.
So that was today from MF - should I buy Darktrace? blah blah blah..
Here is just the 1st page headlines of their articles going back 1 month, its called clickbait and best ignored!

BUYLONGSTAYHAPPY
"Not all Darktrace customers are happy with the service.
Approximately 7.7% of existing customers decided not to continue using Darktrace as their cyber-security solution. Given the typical stickiness of this class of technology, that’s a little worrying, especially since this number has grown from 6.9% in 2020. Management has placed the blame on client pandemic-related budget cuts in early 2021, which is certainly plausible. But if this number continues to grow, the Darktrace share price could start to suffer."
