Not sure why so many people look at the very short term view of where a company is today rather then where it’s going.
Covid at worse will be here significantly for only the next six months.
Even before it disappears and becomes no more of an issue than flu we will have lots of news on avaccine.
"Perhaps unlikely but no one would expect 52wk high price."
It is part of takeover legislation.
Jwd.
Check out the bfi.org site for cinema takings.
Going up nicely.
Six months on when this is £1.50 we can look back and laugh at these paid derampers.
Don't know why they're paid, they're absolutely ****e !!
Even if national lockdown won’t happen cinema attendance looks dire unfortunately I’m all for cinemas but attendance is bad cash burn is up
Indepthwins.
You post.
Cinema is in decline.
Fact. 2020 takings were above 2019 pre covid-19 so 2020 was shaping up to be a better year.
All companies have dept.
Take Premier foods. Massive dept & pension deficit so you would not have invested. Shares went from 16p to over £1 in a few days & no chance of a dividend for years to come.
National lockdown.
Not happening mate.
No need for one. ( more people dying of road traffic accidents than covid-19)
I am happy to wait a while for the true value of this share to come through in the next 6 months .
Keep posting your crap, it makes me laugh.
Haha. Love it jai
Boix, you are forgetting Mooky and HSBC have over 56% of Cineworld shares bought in over £2 a share for them. They have no need to sell these at a loss. Particularly HSBC, who have lent Cineworld lots of money and these shares are part of that loan repayment plan. So unless the price is right for these two, then no takeover is possible. But Disney has a long standing relationship with Mooky and due to the low interest rates, meaning debt is relatively cheap at the moment and for some time to come. Disney can afford to buy Cineworld at over £2 a share. They bought Fox studios, just so they can have control of all of the Star Wars franchise. Buying a cinema chain in comparison is a far more palatable proposition.
Sorry to be a party pooper but I can't see a buyout befitting shareholders:
1 the business isn't that that bad a shape right now to need a buyout
2 if Covid is around in 2021 voluntary administration may be avoided by selling a share issue to big buyer shareholder dilution
3 the acquisition moves CINE have made tells me they want to be the biggest even at the expense of value delivery to shareholders. Selling out doesn't allign with this.
Short term takeover is I would say HIGHLY unlikely.
Requirement for offer higher than 52 week high.
Any take over would not be less than £2
Mooky would not sell for any less !!
Investing is about the future, not what is happening today. Learn some basics FFS!
I would definitely take £2.50!
Very exciting times!
Best share on the market,
What a ride & it hasn't even started.
Upwards & Upwards.
I feel if Disney buy Cineworld. They will leave Mooky in charge to run the cinema business. So he will stay in the game.
Higher than £2. Just because of the price Mooky bought shares and also the price when HSBC got it’s 28% stake. I would estimate £2.50-£3.00 a share.
I cant see Mooky agreeing to a takeover.
There will definitely be an offer on the table in the next 12 months. Maybe a lot sooner.
But I still can't see it. Cinema has been in his family for the best part of a century.
There's a hell of a lot of background maneuvering going on and I would bet strongly on an aggressive bid from Disney.
As I said yesterday, Goldman Sachs have previous here when they advised Fox in the Disney takeover.
Purchase's link throws more meat on the fire.
But... I still think Mooky will stick.
I think his strategy and ultimately what he wants his legacy to be is to be the biggest cinema chain in the world providing the best experience.
HOWEVER. Everyone has a price.
So exciting to be invested in this right now.
@Pinkeye - I was just discussing the same topic with another trader friend, he’s got quite a bit of experience and says a takeover is highly likely... obviously it’s all speculation at this stage however the interest from any such company will be more intense!
It would have to be worth it for the larger shareholders to agree so I would say probably at least somewhere north of £2.
If a studio was to try to takeover Cineworld what would be your share price expectation?
£1, £2 or perhaps higher?
