yes the protest trend is gripping boohoo and they need to take actions to address it to stop the fallout. they have taken moves but sentiment is still poor and still overhang to clear. there is still selling on upticks as there was yesterday morning. the shares need to find a support that can be held otherwise it will keep falling until a test of support and a reversal takes place.
Agree with fishoutofwater here. Boohoo's business model is based around instagrammers and influencers. It's on the balance atm for boohoo, with the current trend of "justice" and "anti historic slavery" sentiment amongst the young, it only takes one of these influencers being called out, then they'll be under pressure to cut ties with boohoo. Then one by one these influencers could fall by the way side - if it ends up like a movement similar to BLM, it could be deep trouble for boohoo. I see there's a real potential this could happen
fishoutofwater you've nailed it:
If big name celebs stop endorsing, the brands are in trouble. In the current climate, that may well happen. Conversely if celebs stick by these brands, we'll be back up in no time.
@fishoutofwater Exactly, that’s why they’ll be moving on to something like Quiz.
@K3,
Kids are going to buy from boohoo. 80% of them don’t have a clue what’s in the news!
I completely agree with this, do you honestly think that if you asked the kids in the queues outside
a certain low budget clothing store if they know where the clothes are made they wouldn’t have a clue, all they want is cheap clothes, makeup, jewellery, shoes etc.
If you told them it was made in sweatshops using cheap labour would they still buy the clothes, I think they would!
When you buy clothes in Turkey, Thailand etc at the markets do you care about where it’s made or Is that not important as long as you have a designer handbag on your arm or designer T-shirt.
you are kidding right?
Quiz is now the better option
COVID19 is here to stay. I won’t be letting my kids go near a shop, if I can help it, and I certainly do NOT spend and time indoors with strangers. On-line grocery deliveries and takeaways only.
The high street will not recover fully - ever.
Kids are going to buy from boohoo. 80% of them don’t have a clue what’s in the news!
Not the case it seems, they love the brand , nothing on the high street compares to style, price , service, why go to the high street when its so easy from the safety of your own home ,
No Covid risk there,
GLA LTH The Brands are very strong , wait till the numbers come out and see
kids will buy what they can afford and these days kids are broke and due to how the world operates, inequality is getting larger and more and more folks are finding themselves on the wrong side of the fence. so finances likely to be tight, but yes anyone that can afford to, shops where they want to, its just that many must do it on a shoe string. things may change, but it may take a revolution and that sadly not a great way of doing things, as leads to huge upheavel for many and loss of life.
Folks will virtue signal but when it comes to spending money, its another thing. Its about looking good on FB and saying the right thing, but doing another if it comes down to finances of kids these days. However, there is a process and it needs to take place, hence the poor sentiment towards the shares right now.
They will continue to thrive after this hiccup. Daughter is another teenager who buys very regularly and I doubt will change. Loves the clothes and prices.
Huge sells after hours last night, institutional investors off loading, not to be associated with company? Without that support where does this share end up?
asked my daughter in law who use BOO HOO regularly wether she will stop using its brands due to the recent press,
answer definitely Not, never believe everything you read in the media ,
style and price are the determining factors , great range ,
GLA LTH buying product power will prevail here, imo
