This board seems quite dead. Advfn’s board has more activity if peeps want to catch up
I appreciate ALM have written off their investment in Spin but we don't yet know what the final status of Spin Memory will be.... ARM are not an insignificant backer of Spin and perhaps the IP is worth something. Perhaps worth quite a lot? Spin did "tape out" their demonstration module so clearly achieved something. If they have a way through Moore's Law (as the theory was set out to be) that provide faster/better semiconductors that could be attractive. Semiconductors aren't exactly a dying industry are they?
We will see.
Well at least the board are buying at least some shares.
The SP does appear stuck in this 24-26p range at present
Plenty who bought at 20p will be selling i reckon
Hopefully we can crack 30p in the next few weeks

Be careful with your maths. Allied referring to a VC like return would relate to their own investment in Federated. From what I can see, they have invested around $25m in total, thus a 3x return would be $75m which is more or less what their stake was worth at the last investment round.
So they could quite easily claim "VC like returns" by simply exiting Federated in full at the same price as the last round - which would net about 24p per share of ALM.
If the rest of the portfolio is worthless (Federated and Spin were the two big plays and now Spin has spun down the toilet) then the current share price is reflective of NAV.
Nice to see a little bit of sentiment returning following the update.
Although that’ll be the kiss of death now :-0
Discount to NAV is improving I’d say, fed will start generating $$ Q4
GLA!!
Hi Echo1
The marine base is worth $12m (probably split $4m in 2021 and $8m in 2022.)
There’s lots of those deals out there and their technology is important for autonomous vehicles, Warehousing and iot. All very topical areas. I wonder whether the likes of Kathie Wood will snap this up in ark invest at some point?
https://federatedwireless.com/federated-wireless-oversees-successful-12-million-5g-private-network-pilot-using-shared-spectrum-for-united-states-department-of-defense/
The NAV assuming we get zero for spin memory (which seems unlikely although their creditors will get the priority) is about 38p
If we assume “VC like returns” being 3x NAV then this as the potential to be a 5 bagger if the whole portfolio exits successfully…..
At current price a patient investor should be rewarded. But I agree the comms from ALM to shareholders are poor. OSK launched its satellite over a month ago. Why sit on the news till today?
Good luck and stay patient!
Evening Agricore
Good to see an update from ALM. Keeping investors in the loop should be one of there top priorities.
Federated Wireless - shaping up to be the saving grace of the BOD. I think it'll become bigger than the whole of the portfolio given time
Bridgecomm and orbital sidekick look like theyre also shaping up very nicely.
And there's some promise in Occutherapeutics too
And a steady rise in the SP is also very welcome!! fingers crossed the NAV is realised in time
The phrase “increasingly confident in delivering venture capital like returns” (typically vc returns are 3x or more) in today’s update is Very good to hear.
Would be good to see fInancial results but the verbal progress update is positive.
Good to hear Nuck
I’m heading up to skye in October
I’m good mate, chucked some cash into crypto and see where it takes me in a year or two. I’m due a break if I do say so myself. like to check in in ALM SP as you know. In Aviemore at the moment. A weeks holiday from the grind and a different kitchen sink.
Hi Echo, The 5G roll out is a key enabler for a number of technologies (autonomous vehicles, IOT, space tech) so anticipate this share becoming a "hot" area - and a "picks and shovels" play.
I think each of the portfolio has good potential - and once a funding round or an IPO is announced then the current 20p is a total bargain. So I'm very happy to be in here at this price. Just this morning my investment in Thinksmart is going to shoot up on the news the Dorsey is buying Clearpay..... well I'm assuming it shall.... the market opens in an hour!
Sorry Nuck - only just spotted your reply.
I'm holding off on new investments for the time being - made plenty of ££ last 15 months so I'm happy just to sit on what I've got
You doing ok?
Morning Agricore,
thanks for posting those. Not sure what your thinking is but I'm very hopeful we'll start to see significant revenues from Federated Wireless from Q4 2021 onwards. Federated is the only reason I've stayed invested here - I genuinely think it could grow to be far bigger than the whole of ALM portfolio in time.
What were your thoughts?
https://www.ravepubs.com/wireless-sees-the-light/
Meanwhile at ALM 2nd portfolio in 5G - the market opportunity is significant and imminent:
“Traditionally, optical wireless communications is from a transmitter to a receiver, point-to-point, and that was it. That obviously limits its applicability. Whereas we have developed the ability to do point-to-multipoint communications (something we term one-to-many communications). This acts very much like RF so we can support a multitude of parties with much higher bandwidth. That means that applications like mobility, being able to support end users as they travel and track them is part of our capability we’re developing.”
“In terms of applicability to infrastructure, we’re not that far away at all. We were already having discussions and demonstrations with commercial carriers, mobile carriers, mobile and fixed carriers. And I can see that they have already started adopting product to put in place early next year (2022).”

There are a lot of advantages that come with 5G. 5G is cloud native, and it’s designed with IT principles in mind; therefore, it’s simple for enterprise IT staff to deploy, operate and support.
As for what impact the pandemic is having on private networks, “it’s a double-edged sword,” Dhar said. On one hand, some 3GPP standards work slowed down because it takes longer to resolve conflicts in a virtual world versus in-person meetings.
On the other hand, the pandemic increased the desire on the part of some enterprises to automate rather than have people be physically close to one another. If the pandemic has brought anything to light, “it’s basically the urgency for every industry and every enterprise to accelerate their digitization process,” Dhar said.
5G is not a great deal more expensive than 4G and brings with it a strong Industrial IoT feature set, including enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) and massive Machine Type Communications (MTC), according to Dhar.
Federated Wireless expects 5G will be commercially deployed on CBRS in the fourth quarter of this year. The company, which runs a Spectrum Access System (SAS), is involved in 5G trials with customers, and it’s also deploying 5G for the Department of Defense (DoD).
Echo, you not fancy selling up and taking advantage of the current crypto crash?
Some very hefty trades have gone through in the last few days
One for £1 million and a second for £372K
There seems to be resistance at 20-21p
Maybe that's the end of the downward pressure?
Happy to hear opinions of this lame donkey lol
Aurora Satellite launched today (13th July)
https://cheddar.com/media/orbital-sidekickss-aurora-satellite-puts-technology-toward-a-sustainable-future
Great presentation from ALM portfolio company Orbital Sidekick. Onwards and upwards!!
Regarding ALM's investment in Orbital Sidekick:
The Aurora Satellite was due to be launched on the 25th June (Friday). It's been delayed and will be rescheduled.

OK thanks would make sense now it's established and revenue generative
Yes. Was discussed on capital markets day and communicated that was definitely and option they were looking at
Would appreciate views from guys who seem well informed with regards to this Company. Have FW openly admitted ambitions to float on NASDAQ or is this just standard job description script for that role? Thanks in advance
Well If that’s the case, this will be at least a 10-bagger from the current price.
Fab!
Last year tech ipo’s on the Nasdaq averaged 23.9 times their last 12 months’ revenue. That is a fact my friend. So take a conservative 10x and you have your $billion company
Fed would be floated on the Nasdaq and 10-20 x revenue valuations are common. That really is how it’s done. I hope orbital follow the same route. They also are projecting high double digit revenue next year so the same would apply for them.
