Transaction in own shares

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 21 May 2008 it purchased 350,000 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 267.50 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 259.00 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 391,777 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 261.5357 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
