Character Group PLC31 January 2008 31 January 2008 The Character Group plc (the 'Group' or 'Company') Transaction in Own Shares The directors of The Character Group plc announce that, as part of the Group'spolicy of buying back Group shares, a further 179,603 shares have been purchased yesterday in the market through Charles Stanley Securities for treasury at aprice of 89.97 pence per share. This represents approximately 0.42% of theissued share capital of the Company (excluding shares held in treasury). Following these transactions, the Company has 42,596,721 ordinary shares inissue (excluding 2,895,216 ordinary shares in the Company held in treasury).
