Annual General Meeting statement
At the Group's Annual General Meeting today, Ian Murgitroyd, Executive Chairman, will make the following statement:
"Both activity levels and business performance for the first quarter of the financial year have been encouraging, turnover being comfortably ahead of the corresponding period of the financial year ended 31 May 2010. The gross margin percentage earned on this turnover was in line with market expectations, resulting in operating and pre-tax profits showing good growth year-on-year.
Driving, as well as reflecting, increased activity levels, are increased fee earner numbers. Three new qualified Attorneys, five part-qualified Attorneys and three graduate trainees joined the Group in the first quarter, adding to the staff complements in seven of Murgitroyd's European offices. People have also been added to the Group's global business development operation in the USA, staff there moving to new, larger, office accommodation in Durham, North Carolina at the start of October.
The Board remains confident about the future prospects of the Group."
