Westminster Group Plc:ย
Launch of new 'Generation 2' website for its
International Security & Defence subsidiary
Westminster Groupย Plcย ('Westminster' orย the 'Group'), the AIM listed supplier of system solutions and products to the security, defence, fire protection and safety markets worldwide,ย announces the launch of itsย newย international, multilingual, 'Generation 2' security and defence web siteย (www.wi-ltd.com).
At flotation,ย Westminsterย announced a programme of improvements to itsย sales andย marketing activities toย furtherย exploit its already prominent position as one of the world's foremost providers of global security and defence solutions.
Theย newย site is believed to be the largest security product web site in the world and has become a case study for the Microsoft Corporation as a result of its complexity and successful delivery ย (http://www.microsoft.com/casestudies/casestudy.aspx?casestudyid=4000003895).
ย
Features offered include:ย multilingual support;ย secure e-commerce;ย secure access to files for Westminster's agents & partners;ย encrypted enquiry facilities;ย personalised customer account centres;ย site-wide search of all products & datasheets; interactive worldwideย 'contact us'ย facility;ย related product suggestions and a product library that is fiveย times greater than the previous generation's site.
Guy McNeill, Technical Manager at Westminster, said:
"Westminsterย has a unique challenge in that many of our target customers are in inhospitable and often unreliable environmentsย with aย necessityย to access a huge technical library of information that is up-to-date and is capable of being delivered in their language.ย
"Theย newย interactive customer portal enables visitors to subscribe to Westminster News and Product announcements,ย specify preferences in how they search and display information on our site, and keep track on enquired and purchased products.ย
ย "We have had to factor in lowย bandwidthย constraints for some of the Asian and African markets, technologyย compatibilityย andย advanced security encryptionย whichย is crucial to maintaining our market leading position in the global security and defence market."
Peter Fowler, Chief Executive of Westminster,ย added:
"The new site gives the Group far greater reach and greater control over our product catalogue. Our industry is fastย changing, making the traditional printed catalogues very hard to keep up to date. The efficiency of our network ofย overย 70ย agents is dependent on supporting them in the field with the most up to date productย informationย and manuals on a real time basis.
"We calculate that this site will not only improve ourย product sales, order processing and delivery, but will additionally deliver cost savings throughย reducedย print of catalogues and product marketing materialsย and greater efficiencies through advanced management information."
