West Brom Building Society announces Board changes

West Brom Building Society has announced several changes to its Board of non-executive directors.

Julie Hopes will step down from the Board at the end of May, having served as Deputy Chair, Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee. David Thomas, currently Chair of the Risk Committee, will assume the roles of Deputy Chair and Senior Independent Director subject to regulatory approval.

Lynne Shamwana, Chair of Audit Committee will step down from the Board following the Society's Annual General Meeting on 23rd July. The process to appoint a new Chair of Audit Committee is underway.

Russell Galley has, due to personal circumstances, resigned with immediate effect.

Lynne Atkin has joined the Board and will be appointed Chair of the Remuneration and People Committee, once the relevant regulatory approvals are in place. Lynne brings with her extensive experience in senior leadership roles across the financial services sector, having previously served as Human Resources Director at Barclays Bank UK. She is currently a Trustee of Action for Children.

Commenting on the changes, West Brom Building Society Chair John Maltby said: "On behalf of the Board, I'd like to thank Julie for her valuable contributions over the past nine years and Lynne for hers over the last six years. Their insight and commitment have been greatly appreciated.

"Although his tenure was brief, Russell made a valued contribution to the Board. We're sorry to see him step down, but fully respect his decision and wish him and his family all the best for the future.

"We're pleased to welcome Lynne Atkin to the Board and look forward to the expertise she will bring in people leadership, as well as her broader experience across the financial services sector."
