KCM Announcement

Vedanta Resources Plc ("Vedanta") and Konkola Copper Mines ("KCM") announce that on Friday, 23 March 2018, the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom has granted Vedanta and KCM permission to appeal the decision of the Court of Appeal released on 13 October 2017.

The Supreme Court has granted permission to Vedanta and KCM to appeal a decision of the Court of Appeal upholding the earlier judgment of the English High Court of Justice, Queen's Bench Division, Technology and Construction Court of 27 May 2016, that the English courts have jurisdiction to hear and adjudicate certain claims by Zambian residents in relation to KCM's operations in Zambia. 

The judgments rendered to date and the permission to appeal to the Supreme Court relate solely to the jurisdiction of the English courts to hear these claims. There has been no ruling or any determination on the merits of the claims.
