Strategic update - Internet of Things

Utilitywise plc (AIM:UTW), a leading independent utility cost management consultancy, announces a new collaboration with Vodafone and Dell EMC to launch an innovative Internet of Things (IoT) energy and building management platform to transform the way businesses use energy and run their sites.

The platform allows businesses to evaluate all of their energy outputs, such as lighting, heating, and ventilation, from multiple sites and buildings via a single, integrated hub. With instant access and full data visibility, the platform will make it easier than ever before, for facility and property managers to assess where energy is being wasted. They can then react accordingly to save their businesses money.

The platform's software, developed by Utilitywise, can also eliminate the need for expensive data software licences and maintenance agreements that are regularly part of existing building management systems. Together with the significant opportunities for energy savings, this represents a compelling solution for procurement and finance teams looking to realise much needed cost efficiencies.

The collaboration extends from technology, to a joint go-to-market strategy in the UK involving Vodafone and Utilitywise sales teams taking the platform to market, engaging across existing and prospect customer bases.

Brin Sheridan, Utilitywise Corporate Division Managing Director, said: "This is a truly ground-breaking technology that will produce significant savings for businesses. By giving business owners and building managers unprecedented insight into how their businesses are using energy, they can make truly-informed decisions about how to reduce their utility bills. Utilitywise's intelligent building controls solution has the potential to produce huge savings for customers, freeing up cash to be invested elsewhere."

Vodafone director of Internet of Things, Stefano Gastaut, said: "This is a great example of how IoT is being used to disrupt and innovate. IoT is helping to create smarter buildings and to change the level of control and insight companies can get about their energy performance, that unlocks new savings and potentially lowers their carbon footprint."

Dell EMC OEM Solutions VP & GM, Dermot O'Connell, said: "We're delighted to be making this bold move into the building services arena with Vodafone and Utilitywise. With this unique combination we have the ability to reduce energy consumption bills for thousands of UK businesses by combining Dell EMC's advanced infrastructure solutions - which are ideal for connecting systems like legacy building management commonly referred to as Operations Technology - to state of the art connectivity from Vodafone and advanced data ingestion and analytics from Utilitywise. Partnerships like this open up new opportunities for growth and will shape the way the Internet of Things."
