TMKΒ SuccessfullyΒ TestsΒ NewΒ HeatΒ TreatmentΒ EquipmentΒ at its VolzhskyΒ Subsidiary
VolzhskyΒ PipeΒ Plant (VTZ),Β TMK'sΒ subsidiaryΒ inΒ the VolgogradΒ Region,Β successfully testedΒ Italian-madeΒ equipmentΒ installed asΒ part ofΒ aΒ newΒ heat treatmentΒ line.

The new heat treatmentΒ lineΒ isΒ to beΒ commissionedΒ inΒ SeptemberΒ 2008Β andΒ will increaseΒ TMK'sΒ heat treatmentΒ capacityΒ by 340 thousandΒ tonnesΒ per year.

Heat treatment modifies the mechanical characteristics of the pipes by altering the structure of the steel or alloy, effectivelyΒ enhancing customer value as treated pipes can meet the requirements associated withΒ today'sΒ demanding operating environments. These high added value products can command a price mark-up of up to 30%.
TheΒ new lineΒ will treatΒ seamless pipes forΒ use in theΒ oilΒ andΒ gasΒ and power generation industries.
As part ofΒ TMK'sΒ StrategicΒ InvestmentΒ Programme,Β aΒ new heat treatmentΒ lineΒ was put into operationΒ atΒ SinarskyΒ PipeΒ PlantΒ earlier this year and another willΒ beΒ brought on lineΒ at TagmetΒ in September. Each of theseΒ linesΒ hasΒ theΒ capacityΒ toΒ treatΒ 200 thousand tonnesΒ of pipesΒ per year.Β By the end of 2008, whenΒ the newΒ lines are up and running,Β TMK'sΒ heat treatmentΒ capacitiesΒ inΒ RussiaΒ willΒ exceedΒ 1.4Β million tonnesΒ andΒ further investments will bringΒ capacityΒ toΒ 1.8 million tonnes in 2010.
In addition to the heat treatment line, a new 200 thousand tonne capacity finishing line for casing pipes will beΒ added to Volzhsky Pipe Plant's TPC-3 rolling shop.Β Equipment suppliers includedΒ German companies ITWH and EMAGΒ andΒ US-basedΒ Bronx.Β
The TPC-3 pipe rolling shop will undergo further upgradingΒ with the addition ofΒ a new casingΒ coupling phosphatising line before year-end.Β Hot rolling equipment will also be upgraded and modified to permit the use of round billets, allowing the shop'sΒ capacity to be increased to 720 thousandΒ tonnes of pipes per year by 2009.
