Transaction in own shares

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 08 September 2008 it purchased 220,229 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 238.50 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 230.25 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 246.516 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 233.9501 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
