TRADING STATEMENTΒ
SciSys plc,Β AIMΒ stock code: SSY, ('SciSys'Β orΒ the 'Company') - the specialist supplier of IT services has released the following trading statement today ahead of its AGM.Β
AtΒ the time of reporting its preliminary results for 2007, the Company indicated thatΒ remedial action had been taken to address underperformance in the business,Β thatΒ itΒ was progressing on a more stable footingΒ and thatΒ early indicators for 2008Β appearedΒ encouraging.Β
As SciSys approaches the half-year point, the DirectorsΒ are able toΒ confirmΒ thisΒ andΒ that theΒ problemsΒ affecting previous periodsΒ have now beenΒ substantiallyΒ overcome.Β The projects against which the Company made provisions have been brought back under control and arrangementsΒ have beenΒ made with the clients involved to protect SciSys' position going forward. Management controls have been revised and strengthened in the business and processes improved toΒ minimise the risk of any recurrence.
The underlying businessΒ hasΒ remainedΒ strong with high utilisation, aΒ goodΒ order book andΒ a strong flow of repeat business from established clients.Β The company continues to make good progress on major programmes with a number of key projects having progressed into their customer acceptance phases.Β Β The VCS businessΒ acquired in SeptemberΒ 2007 continues toΒ contribute strongly to Group earnings. It has recentlyΒ wonΒ aΒ multi-million EuroΒ contract with Deutsche Welle, aΒ leadingΒ German broadcaster,Β to provideΒ an integrated studio system. ItΒ is well placed to win further significant contractsΒ for 2008 and 2009.Β The Group's other divisions have had similar business development success. Thales Alenia Space has awarded theΒ Space divisionΒ aΒ multi-millionΒ EuroΒ contract for the Galileo Network Monitoring Facility project. The GovernmentΒ divisionΒ is to develop an integrated Penalty Fares and Prosecution Management system for London Underground (part of Transport forΒ London).Β In addition,Β SciSysΒ will assistΒ Mid and South Bedfordshire District Councils to harmonise their business processes and systems in readiness for the councils' merger and transition to unitary status.Β
The CompanyΒ is moving back to the levelsΒ of consistent and sustainable financial performance that shareholders have historically expectedΒ and the BoardΒ currently believes that half year results will be consistent with market expectations for the full year.Β
