TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

On 7 December 2012 Standard Life European Private Equity Trust plc (the "Company") purchased for cancellation 150,000 ordinary shares of 0.2p each at an average price of 162.57p per share.

Therefore, the total number of shares with voting rights in the Company is 162,228,566.

The above figure (162,228,566) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
