Sanctuary Group PLC14 December 2006 The Sanctuary Group PLC14 December 2006 THE SANCTUARY GROUP PLC (the 'Company') NOTIFIABLE INTEREST The Company was informed on 12 December 2006 by The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc that, as at close of business on 8 December 2006, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc ("GS Inc.") is interested, by attribution only, in 26,720,189 ordinary shares of 2 pence each in the Company ('Ordinary Shares'), representing approximately 12.03 per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company. Of these 26,720,189 Ordinary Shares: • The interest in 26,362,633 Ordinary Shares arose from a beneficial interest held by Goldman Sachs International, a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of GS Inc. These shares are, or will be, registered at CREST in account CREPTEMP. This represents 11.87 per cent. of the total issued share capital of the Company. • The interest in 357,556 Ordinary Shares arose from an interest held by Goldman, Sachs & Co. ("GS&Co."), a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc., acting as custodian for its customers. These shares are, or will be, registered in the name of Goldman Sachs Securities (Nominees), Limited.
