Director Appointment

The Board of Andes (AIM: AEN), the Latin American energy group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Juan Carlos Esteban to the Board of the Company with effect from 24 June 2009.

Juan Carlos, aged 51, joined the group in August 2008 as Chief Executive Officer of the group's oil and gas interests. He joined the Company from YPF where he has been employed since 1985. At YPF he was responsible for production activities in Argentina and Bolivia and for the operations of YPF's fields in North Mendoza and Malargue in the Cuyana and Neuquen basins. He has significant knowledge and experience in the areas where the group holds its licences.

Luis Alvarez Poli, Chief Executive Officer of Andes, said:

His international exploration and development experience and extensive knowledge of the Neuquen basin has proved invaluable and his appointment to the Board is recognition of the contribution he is making to the group's activities. His appointment significantly strengthens the Board, particularly given the group's focus on the development of our oil and gas interests."

Juan Carlos Esteban does not hold any interest in the Company's share capital. There is no further information to be disclosed in respect of Juan Carlos Esteban under schedule 2(g) and Rule 17 of the AIM Rules.
