OMV Petrom has launched its 2017 Sustainability Report

 

The report offers details on the targets and achievements set within the company's sustainability strategy, in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the most acknowledged international reporting standard for sustainability.

HSSE (health, safety, security and environment), carbon efficiency, business principles and social responsibility, innovation and employees are just some of the presented topics.

In 2017, the total environment costs amounted to approximately 180 million euro, including investments.

 

OMV Petrom's Sustainability Report for 2017 - "HERE AND NOW. The energy for a better life"- is now available online. The report details the company's objectives and last year's results, including its sustainability strategy, based on the following focus areas: HSSE (health, safety, security and environment), carbon efficiency, business principles & social responsibility, innovation and employees are just some of the presented topics.

 

"Globally the demand for energy continues to the rise with increasing need for cleaner energy and greater energy efficiency. Under these circumstances, energy companies need to be more agile and efficient in order to succeed. For OMV Petrom, sustainability is the way we want to reach this objective. In the following years, we aim to take to the next level the commitment that OMV Petrom has made - to act here and now with projects implemented in a safe manner, responsible and professional employees, care for the environment, innovation and technologies and social responsibility activities.", said Christina Verchere, OMV Petrom CEO.

 

The information provided in the report includes the investments made, but also the results obtained:

· In 2017, total environment costs were of approximately 180 million euro, out of which 29 million euro were investments;

· OMV Petrom recycled 48% of the total waste generated in 2017. Three projects for the demolition of old fuel terminals (Roman, Iași, Deva) have reached a 99% waste recycling rate;

· The company continued to implement projects that have further lead to the decrease of GHG (greenhouse gas) intensity by 6.3% vs. 2016;

· Last year, OMV Petrom spent 2.8 million euro for social responsibility projects, with education being the focus area;

· Within the "Vocational Romania" program, 300 pupils and 50 teachers had the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and fall in love with their craft (in Vocational Summer Camp). Within "Oilmen's School" program, OMV Petrom has offered scholarships totaling 275,000 euro for more than 160 pupils.
