Board of Directors addresses comprehensiveΒ developmentΒ ofΒ gas processing and gas chemical capacities inΒ Eastern Russia
TheΒ Board of Directors' meeting is underway at the Company's Headquarters.
The meeting addressed the issue ofΒ comprehensiveΒ developmentΒ ofΒ gas processing and gas chemical capacities in the Eastern Siberia and theΒ Far East.
The Board of Directors recognized the development of gas production,Β transmission, processing and gas chemical capacities inΒ Eastern RussiaΒ as Gazprom's prioritized activity.Β
The Gazprom Management Committee was tasked to ensure the elaboration of a ComprehensiveΒ ActionΒ PlanΒ to developΒ gas production,Β transmission, processing and gas chemical capacities in Eastern Siberia and theΒ Far East. The Plan will be submitted for considerationΒ toΒ the Board of Directors in the fourth quarter of 2009.Β
Background:Β
The September 2007 Order by the Russian Federation Industry and Energy Ministry approved the Development Program for an integrated gas production,Β transmissionΒ and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, taking into account potential gas exports to China and other Asia-Pacific countries (Eastern Gas Program). Gazprom was identified by the Russian Government as the Program execution coordinator.
In March 2008 the Gazprom Board of Directors approved the Development Strategy forΒ the Company'sΒ gas chemical and gas processing facilities.
As part of the Eastern Gas Program execution Gazprom is elaborating, with due regardΒ toΒ the said Strategy, concept proposalsΒ for creation ofΒ processing capacities in Eastern Siberia and theΒ Far East.Β
In particular, the Company is looking at the possibility to construct the following capacities:
a gas processing plant (GPP) and a gas chemical complex (GCC) in theΒ KrasnoyarskΒ Krai based on the Sobinsko-Payginskoye oil and gas condensate field;
GPP and GCC in theΒ IrkutskΒ Oblast based on the Chikanskoye gas and condensate field;Β
GPP and GCC in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia),Β theΒ LNG plant and GCC in the PrimorskyΒ Krai based on the Chayanda oil and gas condensate field;Β
GPP in theΒ KhabarovskΒ Krai designed for processing a part of natural gas to be produced within theΒ potentialΒ development projectsΒ offshoreΒ Sakhalin.
