Modern Water and Advent Envirocare complete successful pilot of new brine concentration technology
Modern Water plc (AIM:MWG), the owner of leading technologies for water, wastewater treatment and the monitoring of water quality, announces that - together with its partner in India, Advent Envirocare Technology Pvt. Ltd - it has successfully deployed a pilot test plant of Modern Water's proprietary all membrane brine concentration (AMBC) technology. The technology is now ready to be fully commercialised and applied to wastewater projects throughout the world.
The need for brine concentration in certain industries has never been greater, with increased focus on waste minimisation, increased water recycling and requirements for zero liquid discharge (ZLD). Traditional brine concentration typically uses a combination of reverse osmosis, followed by thermal brine concentration and finally thermal brine crystallisation to achieve ZLD requirements.
The AMBC pilot plant has clearly demonstrated that it can achieve higher brine concentration than conventional technologies, significantly reducing the waste water volume for subsequent brine crystalliser treatment. By integrating Modern Water's AMBC technology in their own ZLD projects, a customer will be able to substantially reduce both capital costs and, in particular, operating costs.
