Motive Television Nominated for three Irish Film and Television Awards 2012
London: 11 January, 2012 -- Motive Television PLC, the digital television technology, software and services provider, is delighted to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Motive Television Limited, has been nominated for three Irish Film and Television Awards at the 9th IFTA award ceremony to be held in Dublin on 11 February 2012.
In the Sports category, Motive has been nominated for Man on a Mission and for Pilgrims - The Irish at Cheltenham. In Man on a Mission Eamonn Coghlan travels to Kenya, to uncover the unlikely, but lasting legacy one Irish brother, Colm O'Connell has made and continues to make to world athletics. Part travelogue, part tribute this documentary brings Eamonn to the modest training camp of Brother Colm as he painstakingly prepares David Rudisha, World 800 meters champion, for London 2012. Pilgrims celebrates Irish race goers long standing affinity with the Cheltenham Festival. This documentary captures this magic event with insight and humour from jockeys, owners, pundits, punters and trainers. This is a behind the scenes look at how the Irish made the world's preeminent national hunt meet their own.
In the Documentaries category, Motive has been nominated for The Irish of 9/11. This documentary presents a uniquely Irish perspective on the most seminal moment of the 21st century. In particular, we meet Irish emigrants and their families devastated by the single biggest atrocity ever committed on U.S soil. A decade on from September 11th, 2001, our participants reflect back on a decade grieving, remembering and trying to live lives after the horror of an extraordinary morning in Manhattan.
All three programmes were directed by Maurice Sweeney and produced by Anne McLoughlin and Jamie D'Alton. Anne McLoughlin, Producer and Managing Director at Motive Television, has more than 10 years television industry experience across a range of production roles and genres and joined Motive in 2005. Jamie D'Alton, Producer and Director at Motive Television, began his career in the newsroom of RTÉ, moving to Canada in 2004 to work as a producer on Canadian breakfast television, before joining Motive Television in 2007 upon returning to Ireland.
Michael Pilsworth, Chairman of Motive, commented: "This is fantastic news for Motive Television. Being nominated for three IFTA's is a huge achievement and testimony to the quality of the work produced by the team here."
