Leeds Building Society appoints new Non-Executive Director
Leeds Building Society has appointed Robin Ashton as a non-executive director with immediate effect. He joins the Board, which now consists of four executive directors and nine non-executive directors under the leadership of Chairman Robin Smith.
Mr Ashton qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in Leeds and has spent his career in retail financial services both in the UK and internationally. His previous executive roles included Treasurer, Finance Director and Chief Executive at Provident Financial plc, a FTSE 250 company. He is currently the Non-executive Chairman of the parent company of Link Loans, a provider of prime second charge secured loans.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Ashton said, "I have worked in retail financial services for more than 25 years and I am delighted to be joining the Board of Leeds Building Society. I began my career in Leeds and have spent much of my life living and working in Yorkshire.
"The UK's fifth largest building society is a successful, independent member owned business, with a strong well-capitalised balance sheet, and I look forward to using my experience to add value to the members and staff of this long established and successful organisation."
Robin Smith, the Society's Chairman said, "This is an excellent appointment and I am delighted to welcome Robin to the Board.
