DIRECTORS'/PDMR SHAREHOLDINGS
The Company announces that on 30 June 2009 the following directors and members of the Group Management Board were granted conditional share awards over ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company under the terms of the Johnston Press Performance Share Plan 2006 (the "PSP"). No consideration was paid for the grant of the PSP awards.
The award to John Fry is a one-off award and was made to facilitate his recruitment as the new Chief Executive of the Company and has been approved under Listing Rule 9.4.2R(2) but otherwise has been made on terms largely the same as the rules of the PSP.

Subject to the achievement of the performance criteria, the PSP awards and the award to John Fry will normally vest on 30 June 2012 and may, to the extent vested, be exercised during the six month period ending 31 December 2012. No consideration is payable on the vesting of the PSP awards.
