INTERSERVE SELECTED FOR 2.6bn YORbuild FRAMEWORK

Interserve has been selected for the YORbuild Framework, open for the use of local authorities and public service bodies throughout Yorkshire and the Humber region. The framework will have an initial life of four years with the option to extend for a further two. The total value over the six years is anticipated to be approximately 2.6 billion.

The framework is divided into four sub-regions with six work categories in each. The anticipated balance of Interserve's activity across this portfolio is expected to generate an estimated 240 million of work over the full life of the framework.

The projects, which may include schools and other educational facilities, civic buildings, leisure facilities, emergency services premises and health service buildings, can be new build, refurbishment or design and build. Some civil engineering construction works are also covered.

The Yorkshire and Humber region covers 15,500 square miles, with a population of approximately 5 million spread over large urban areas and remote rural communities. Interserve is ideally situated to deliver the necessary construction services from its two regional offices at Castleford in West Yorkshire and Stockton-on-Tees.

Interserve is currently involved in a 10-year partnership with Leeds City Council as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme and has just completed four years as a framework partner with the East Riding of Yorkshire County Council - a forerunner of the new YORbuild Framework. The work has included building and refurbishing schools and council offices, repairing bridges, improving the roads infrastructure and making improvements to residential streets.

"The YORbuild Framework provides an outstanding opportunity for Interserve to make further significant contributions as a major provider of construction services throughout Yorkshire and the Humber area," commented Adrian Ringrose, Interserve's Chief Executive. "It also underlines the strength of our regional operations - we are already partners in similar frameworks in the south-west of England and the east midlands."
