ROBERT PITT APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF INM

Dublin/London 29th January 2016: Independent News & Media PLC ('INM' or the 'Company') today announces the appointment of Mr Robert Pitt (45) as a Director of the Company. Mr Pitt joined INM plc as Group CEO in September 2014.

Welcoming Robert Pitt's appointment to the Board of the Company, Leslie Buckley, Chairman, INM, said: "The Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Robert Pitt as a Director of the company. He has been with INM for almost 18 months and has successfully overseen a number of considerable changes in a continually challenging period for the business and for the news publishing sector as a whole. The Company now looks forward to Robert's added positive contribution at Board level."

A graduate of University College Dublin, with a BA in Economics, Robert Pitt's senior management career spans over twenty years. Prior to joining INM, he held senior management roles in the retail sector in Eastern Europe. From May 2012 he was Chief Operations Officer of Tesco Czech Republic, prior to which he held the positions of Managing Director, Tesco Franchise Stores in the Czech Republic; and Operations Director, Hypermarkets Tesco, Czech Republic and Slovakia. He held senior management positions for Lidl in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ireland from 1999 to 2007. From 1997 to 1999 he was General Manager at Shibo in Beijing, prior to which he worked with PwC in the Czech Republic.

Robert Pitt is married and has four children.
