Great Eastern Energy Corp Ltd21 July 2006 PRESS RELEASE July 21, 2006 GREAT EASTERN ENERGY NOTICE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING Great Eastern Energy Corporation Ltd, ("Great Eastern Energy" or the "Company"),incorporated to explore, develop, distribute and market coal bed methane ("CBM") in India, today confirms that a notice convening an ExtraordinaryGeneral Meeting of the Company (to be held at 14th Floor, Signature Towers - A,South City, NH - 8, Gurgaon - 122001, Haryana, India on August 21, 2006 at 12:00p.m.) has been sent to its shareholders, to approve the proposal to sponsor theissue of up to 90,120,395 Global Depositary Receipts ("GDRs") representing up to450,601,979 existing ordinary shares of INR 1 each of the Company. Each GDR represents 5 ordinary shares in the Company. No ordinary shares arebeing issued as part of extending the existing GDR programme.
