Appointment of Non-executive Director and Chairman Designate

The Board of Fulcrum Pharma plc (AIM: FUL), the drug development and regulatory services company, is pleased to announce that Grahame Cook has joined the board as a Non-executive Director and Chairman designate. It is planned that Sir Charles George will retire as Chairman and from the Board at the Annual General Meeting in December 2008.

Commenting on these changes to the Board, Dr Frank Armstrong, CEO of Fulcrum Pharma, said, "I would like to thank Sir Charles for his 8 years of leadership of the Board of Fulcrum Pharma. Sir Charles has been a dedicated and involved Chairman who has given great service to the Company. Commenting on his appointment Mr. Cook said, "I am pleased to join the Board of Fulcrum Pharma at an exciting time of change for the company and the Pharma and Biotechnology industry as a whole. Mr. Cook, aged 50, a chartered accountant, has held a number of senior executive positions including, most recently his role as Chief Executive at WestLB Panmure, until 2003, where he was responsible for all global functions and the expansion and development of WestLB Panmure's business. Prior to this he spent three years at UBS as a managing director where he was on the Global Investment Banking Management Committee. He was also a director of Barclays de Zoete Wedd. He was a founding member of the London Stock Exchange techMARK Advisory Council and currently holds various other non-executive positions including Antisoma PLC, Sinclair Pharma Plc and Minoan Group plc.
