Appointment ofΒ NewΒ Chairman
e2vΒ technologiesΒ plc,Β aΒ leading developer and manufacturer of high-technology electronic components and sub-systems to the aerospace & defence, medical & science, and commercial & industrial sectors,Β is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Geoghegan asΒ its newΒ Non-ExecutiveΒ ChairmanΒ with effectΒ from 1stΒ October 2009.
Mr Geoghegan has considerable experience of e2v's major markets and hasΒ also been highly influentialΒ in theΒ successful implementation ofΒ businessΒ improvement programmes in the geographies in which e2v operates.
MrΒ Geoghegan, a former group executive director of BAE Systems plc, is the Chairman of Hampson IndustriesΒ plc, senior independent director ofΒ bothΒ Kier GroupΒ plcΒ andΒ VolexΒ plcΒ and a non executive director ofΒ SIGΒ plc.
In June 2009, e2v announced the planned retirement ofΒ MrΒ George M Kennedy CBEΒ as Chairman.Β Mr Kennedy will step down from the Board after a short handover period.
Mr Kennedy commented:

The Board'sΒ succession planning has worked well, with a new FinanceΒ Director in place, and now the seamless appointment ofΒ MrΒ Chris Geoghegan as myΒ successor. Chris Geoghegan biography:
MrΒ GeogheganΒ was aΒ group executive director of BAE Systems plcΒ from 2002Β untilΒ 2007Β andΒ a past president of the Society of British Aerospace Companies.Β He has over 30 years' experience in the aerospace industry having spent most of his career inΒ the commercial aircraft sector and was appointed one of three chief operating officers of BAE Systems plc.Β From 2000 to 2002,Β following the merger of British Aerospace and Marconi Electronics Systems,Β he wasΒ group managing director of the combined Avionics Group.Β Mr Geoghegan was a key player in the growth and establishment of AirbusΒ as managing director of the Airbus Company and a member of the executive board of Airbus Industrie. He alsoΒ has substantial experience inΒ the militaryΒ aerospace sector, having been responsible forΒ BAE Systems'Β European Defence joint ventures and its Defence Electronics companies.Β Mr Geoghegan began his careerΒ in 1972Β atΒ Hawker SiddeleyΒ which later formed part of British AerospaceΒ where he worked in sales contracts, purchasing, production, site management and operations.Β He isΒ currently the Chairman ofΒ HampsonΒ IndustriesΒ plc, senior independent director ofΒ bothΒ Kier Group plcΒ andΒ Volex plcΒ and aΒ non-executive director ofΒ SIG plc.Β
