Appointment ofย Newย Chairman
e2vย technologiesย plc,ย aย leading developer and manufacturer of high-technology electronic components and sub-systems to the aerospace & defence, medical & science, and commercial & industrial sectors,ย is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Geoghegan asย its newย Non-Executiveย Chairmanย with effectย from 1stย October 2009.
Mr Geoghegan has considerable experience of e2v's major markets and hasย also been highly influentialย in theย successful implementation ofย businessย improvement programmes in the geographies in which e2v operates.
Mrย Geoghegan, a former group executive director of BAE Systems plc, is the Chairman of Hampson Industriesย plc, senior independent director ofย bothย Kier Groupย plcย andย Volexย plcย and a non executive director ofย SIGย plc.
In June 2009, e2v announced the planned retirement ofย Mrย George M Kennedy CBEย as Chairman.ย Mr Kennedy will step down from the Board after a short handover period.
Mr Kennedy commented:

The Board'sย succession planning has worked well, with a new Financeย Director in place, and now the seamless appointment ofย Mrย Chris Geoghegan as myย successor. Chris Geoghegan biography:
Mrย Geogheganย was aย group executive director of BAE Systems plcย from 2002ย untilย 2007ย andย a past president of the Society of British Aerospace Companies.ย He has over 30 years' experience in the aerospace industry having spent most of his career inย the commercial aircraft sector and was appointed one of three chief operating officers of BAE Systems plc.ย From 2000 to 2002,ย following the merger of British Aerospace and Marconi Electronics Systems,ย he wasย group managing director of the combined Avionics Group.ย Mr Geoghegan was a key player in the growth and establishment of Airbusย as managing director of the Airbus Company and a member of the executive board of Airbus Industrie. He alsoย has substantial experience inย the militaryย aerospace sector, having been responsible forย BAE Systems'ย European Defence joint ventures and its Defence Electronics companies.ย Mr Geoghegan began his careerย in 1972ย atย Hawker Siddeleyย which later formed part of British Aerospaceย where he worked in sales contracts, purchasing, production, site management and operations.ย He isย currently the Chairman ofย Hampsonย Industriesย plc, senior independent director ofย bothย Kier Group plcย andย Volex plcย and aย non-executive director ofย SIG plc.ย
