Compagnie de Saint-Gobain04 May 2005 Press release APPOINTMENTS Further to the appointment of Pierre-Andre de Chalendar as Chief OperatingOfficer of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, the Group has undergone the followingchanges: - Philippe Crouzet, Senior Vice-President, Finance, has been appointedSenior Vice-President in charge of Building Distribution. - Benoit Bazin, President of Abrasive operations for North America andHead of the Abrasives Division's Bonded Grinding Wheels business, has beenappointed Chief Financial Officer. Philippe Crouzet, born in October 1956, graduated with honors from the Institutd'Etudes Politiques and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration. He was a formercounsel (maitre des requetes) to the Conseil d'Etat. He joined the Group in 1986as the Vice-President of Corporate Planning and went on to become Vice-Presidentof Papeteries de Condat (1989), General Delegate to Spain (1992), and Presidentof Flat Glass operations for the building industry in Europe (1996). He becamePresident of the Ceramics & Plastics Division in 1996. In September 2000, he wasappointed Senior Vice-President of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain in charge ofFinance, Information Systems and Purchasing. Benoit Bazin, born in December 1968, is an alumnus of the Ecole Polytechniqueand the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussees. He also holds a Master of Science from MITand a diploma in Economics from IEP Paris. He joined the Group in 1999 as theVice-President of Corporate and Strategic Planning for the Abrasives Division.In September 2000, he was appointed Vice-President of Corporate Planning forCompagnie de Saint-Gobain and in 2002, became President of Abrasive operationsfor North America and Head of the Abrasive Division's worldwide Bonded GrindingWheels business.
