Paul Abberley named as future Chief Executive Officer of Charles Stanley Group PLC

Charles Stanley Group Plc today announces the appointment, subject to regulatory approval, of Paul Abberley as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. The appointment will take effect if, and as soon as, regulatory approval is received. Paul's appointment follows the announcement of 25th September 2014 that Sir David Howard would step down from the role in light of the latest Capital Requirement Directive of the European Union - CRD IV. Sir David will remain as non-executive Chairman of the Charles Stanley group.

A graduate of Keble College, Oxford; Paul joined Charles Stanley as Chief Investment Officer-designate in June 2014. Prior to this appointment Paul was the interim Chief Executive Officer of Aviva Investors Holdings Ltd and Aviva Investors Global Services Ltd, and a member of the Aviva Group Executive Committee, leading a series of strategic re-alignments with Aviva Investors Holdings Ltd where he had worked since 2008.

Prior to Aviva Investors, Paul spent eight years at ABN AMRO Asset Management as Chief Investment Officer for the company's Fixed Income and Investment Solutions Division as well as being Chairman of the company's London Board and a member of the Global Executive Management Team.

In welcoming Paul to the executive board as Chief Executive Officer, Sir David Howard commented: "Paul stood out from amongst a strong field of candidates, both internally and externally, that entered the process for appointment for the Chief Executive Officer role. This process was swift and my thanks go to our non-executive Directors, David Pusinelli and Bridget Guerin, who handled this appointment with a great deal of professionalism. Paul is perfectly equipped with the knowledge, experience and expertise to lead Charles Stanley going forward and my fellow Directors and I wish him well in the role."

Paul will assume the role of 'CEO-designate' in the interim period before approval by the Financial Conduct Authority.

During the past five years Paul Abberley has held the following directorships: Aviva Investors Holdings Ltd, Aviva Investors Global Services Ltd, Aviva Investors London Ltd, Aviva Investors France and Orn Capital Ltd. There is no other information that is required to be disclosed pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in relation to this appointment.
