Management Appointments in Mozambique & Opening of Maputo Office

Beacon Hill, the AIM listed coking coal producer, is pleased to announce that it has further increased its presence in Mozambique through the appointment of additional senior management in Mozambique and the opening of a corporate office in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. The appointments of Mr. Ricardo Jose as Country Manager, Mozambique and Executive Director, Minas Moatize and, Mr. Adelino Fernandes as General Manager, Finance (Minas Moatize), provide further in-country management as the Company moves into production from the main open pit of its wholly owned Minas Moatize Coal Mine in the Tete Province of Mozambique.

Mr. Jose, who has been appointed as Country Manager, Mozambique and Executive Director, Minas Moatize will be responsible for overseeing the Group's activities in Mozambique and the day to day operations of the Minas Moatize Coal Mine. He is an Australian Chartered Engineer with over 25 years of experience in the mining sector, having held senior operational and corporate management roles involving both open-pit and underground operations. A Mozambican national and a respected mining engineer well known within the Mozambican mining industry and government circles, Mr. Jose gained experience of the Moatize coal fields early in his career. Mr. Jose has also worked in Portugal, Papua New Guinea and Australia, latterly as Group Chief Mining Engineer at ASX listed Aditya Birla Minerals Limited. Ric will join the Group on 15 November 2011, be based in Maputo and report to Peter Wilson, Chief Operating Officer of the Company.

Mr. Fernandes, who has taken the role of General Manager Finance, Minas Moatize, has 30 years' experience in senior financial management roles throughout Mozambique, Angola and Europe and will be responsible for overseeing the Group's finance, accounting, legal and risk management functions in Mozambique.
