WS Atkins plc ("Atkins" and "the Company") announces that Sir Peter Williams, a non-executive director and chairman of the Remuneration Committee, will retire from the Board of Atkins following the conclusion of the Company's annual general meeting to be held on 8 September 2011. Sir Peter joined the Atkins Board in May 2004.

Allan Cook, chairman, said: "Sir Peter has made a tremendous contribution to Atkins, with a deep technical understanding of the work that we do. I would like to thank him for his support over the past seven years and wish him well for the future."
